Clomid success story - it does work!

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well. Unfortunately AF came on full force today & my beta was negative. I go Wednesday for my CD3 u/s & will hopefully be cleared for my 2nd round of Clomid. Since I did have 3 mature follicles & my progesterone was 19.5, my dr will keep me on the 50mg.

Crmr & JOY - the Clomid causes the same symptoms as pregnancy, such as breast tenderness/nipple sensitivity & cramping. I had brown spotting at 11dpo, which I thought could've been IB, but it obviously wasn't. I hope that its you're bfp, but I've done 3 total rounds of Clomid & I've had those symptoms every time. Keep us updated. Praying for you guys.

Hi Nikki! Welcome back. I think I saw you on here whenever I first started. Is there a reason why you're waiting until August to start trying again?

Katie - I always test in the morning & at night.

Jinni - when was AF due?? It may be a good sign if you're cycle is late & you're having symptoms.

Lucky - I had a really hard day yesterday when I started some heavy spotting. I knew AF was coming. I cried this morning at work, because I was so disappointed. It just hurts when every month just passes you by & all of the medicines, side effects, testing, etc was all for nothing. I got great results all month & was really getting a positive outlook on everything & then bam...AF hits. So heartbreaking. To make it worse, my sister-n-law told me that she is starting to try for her 2nd baby in April. She previously had 2 abortions & she has a 3 y/o. I'm sure she'll have no problem.

I know it's not other people's fault that I have problems & they don't, but it doesn't make it hurt any less & make us question why. Don't worry. You're not alone. Unfortunately, we are all experiencing the same feelings. It's really hard. Hang in there.

I am so sorry to hear that AF came. I am praying for you! Don't get discouraged, it will happen for you!! I know it is hard, but lately I have been reminded that God's timing is perfect and he cares about all of us! I

My sister in law is due in April, so I can definitley relate how difficult it can be when others around your are pregnant. It isn't that we are not happy for them, but we want the same thing, it is just hard! Just know we are all here for you.

Did you have the side affects all during your cycle or just the first or sencond half? I have been having cramping every since ovulation and have felt very tired! It has been 5 weeks since my last period. I am going to wait another week before testing.

Baby dust to all!!

Maybe I am thinking too much about it...but I got a positive OPK test on Sunday at 1pm, didn't BD until 12 hours later at 1am (was really busy all day) then in the morning I took another test and it was negative. Did I ovulate Sunday afternoon? I am worried I missed my window! I BD'd two and three days before that, but now I am wondering if it was a success. I guess only time will tell....

Babyfever21 My AE was due on 7th March...but as i had a chemical pregnancy last month with the first round of clomid so it might be delay...

No symptons this time except back aches and some weakness....

Last time which was called as chemical pregnancy i had lot of pregnancy symptons....

Now I hav to wait...

Oh baby fever I'm so sorry. It's so hard to think you're getting help and try to be positive and AF comes :(

I have only ever produced one follicle on the right side on each round of clomid and Nothing on the left. Funny that you mention your sister in law as mine just announced her second pregnancy and said it took her so long to get pregnant (8 months) she doesn't know we've been trying for 2 years!

Anyway, we got to be strong for each other.I have to call up tomorrow for my blood test results to see if I ovulated. How come they don't test for ovulation and pregnancy at the same time??

Thank you so much for replying babyfever let's hope we have good news soon x

Well on Sunday I had a positive OPK (or so I thought? It was way darker than the others) and yesterday a negative OPK...then I just tested today to be sure and it's super dark again....hmm this means I haven't ovulated yet? Or maybe my body is struggling to ovulate...:/ I am starting to have sensitive breasts and slight cramping on my right side, so maybe I am about to!

BabyFever12 - March 20

Crmr - Thanks for the encouragement! You took the words right out of my mouth. I know I probably sound so bitter whenever I talk to people, but it's honestly not that I want others to have to go through what I am - I just wish it could be as easy for me as it is for them.

My cycles are 28 days, so my breast tenderness usually starts when I finish the Clomid (around day 7) and lasts the 2nd and 3rd week of my cycle. The cramping always lasts right up until AF comes. How many days are your cycles? Is your doctor going to do a beta test? Praying for you!

Katie - Do you know if it was darker Sunday or today? I wish I had some advice, but I'm not real good with OPK's. They're not as black and white as HPT's.

Jinni - Gosh, I'm so sorry. The chemical pregnancy could definitely be the cause of your cycle being screwed up. My cycle is a pretty consistent 28 days, but when I had my miscarriage last March it went to 37 days the first month, then 34 days the next month before I got back on track. I hope AF comes soon for you.

Lucky - Thank you! I just really felt like this was going to be my month. My birthday is 3/13, so with this being March of 2013, I guess I had attached the idea of "fate" to it working out this month, not to mention I had 3 follicles all on my left (which is the only side I have a tube on), and my progesterone was higher than it's ever been!! Ahhhh, there I went getting my hopes up.

Was your blood test for your CD21 progesterone levels? If so, it is still too early for a beta test to show positive. My doctor does my progesterone on CD21 & my pregnancy test on CD28. Hoping you get GREAT news!!! Please let us know!

By the way - let me tell you all how dumb some people are and also give y'all a little laugh. I like to drink diet coke. I know it's not great for you & there are a lot other things I could/should be drinking, but that's what I choose to drink. Today, I had (2) 12 oz. diet cokes (in addition to my bottle of water that I had with breakfast). Well, the lady I work with says today that she noticed that I drink a lot of soda. Then she says that it probably has my body all screwed up and is the reason that I'm not able to get pregnant. OMG - REALLY???? LOL. First of all, who says that??? Second of all, I've gotten pregnant twice before, but lost them both soooo obviously her statement isn't even justified. Lastly, I have seen a lot of people in a lot worse shape than I am who get pregnant and end up with perfectly healthy babies. Some people...I tell ya....

katie267 - March 20

BabyFever, the test I took about a few hours ago was definitely darker than the others! There's no question, it's positive. The test line is darker than the control line. Also have ovulation symptoms so I think I am right on track. I need to stop stressing out about this.

Lucky44 - March 20

Thanks babyfever the nurse who took my first day21 test said 'hopefully, we won't see you again as this will tell you if you are pregnant' so imagine my panic waiting for the call with hope in my heart, only to confirm that I have ovulated. I had tender breasts and constant cramps last time but nothing this time and the nurse wasnt 100% if I had a mature follicle or if they tested too early.

I know exactly what you mean about the fate side of things as I would have been like you and had a good feeling about those numbers. It gives you something to grab on to in hope!

I am going to call up today to find out the 2nd round day21 test results.

Goodness, I'm sure they would be moaning whatever you drank -full fat coke- too much sugar, calories, salt. Cordial-artificial sweeteners.you could say anything about any drink but I'm pretty sure there would be sone fat law suits with diet coke if results ever proved it hindered your chances of pregnancy- what a crazy thing to say to someone, please ignore and remember we are ultra, hyper sensitive now so these things we would normally be able to laugh off. X

BabyFever12 - March 21

Katie - that's great news!!! Get busy. :)

Lucky - That's crazy that the first nurse told you that! You definitely can't tell from progesterone whether you're pregnant. That's so frustrating to be told different things. Did you find out your CD21 results? Hope you got good news!!

So, I ran into another roadblock today. I had my CD3 u/s and my uterine lining is really thick (10mm). According to the u/s tech it should be less than 4mm at this point. She said maybe I had a lot more bleeding to do, but I haven't been hardly bleeding at all. To make matters worse she saw what "could be" a polyp. I was able to sit down with the doctor to discuss what's going on & he wants me to come back on Friday for another u/s. He's hoping it may just be a blood clot & I'll pass it by then. If not, I'll have to have a hysteroscopy & possibly a d&c. I was supposed to start my 2nd round of clomid today, but hopefully if everything is clear on Friday, I'll just have to do CD5-9 this month. I'm not real optimistic about that happening though, bc I'm not bleeding enough to shed that much of my lining by Friday. My period has actually almost completely stopped. Always something! Feeling bummed :(

Lucky44 - March 21

No and I'm still waiting to find out. I know they're incredibly busy but...well when I got my scan on round 2, my nurse was off work with bereavement so I had to have a non fertility nurse call up a nurse over the phone and then relay the message back to me. It was pretty chaotic :(

When my husband and I first got referred to a specialist, the doctor asked for a sperm sample from my DH. He called us in to go through the results and said 'the problem must be with you (me) as DH results are fine. Anyway, fast forward 6 months to our first specialist appt and I was told that the DR was incorrect..... It just seems to be one thing after the other!

Well you've got one more day to find out that you have just got a bloodclot, well that is what I'll be praying for you so you can crack on with the lucky 2nd round x

Jinni - March 21

Babyfever21.. I am not able to understand if u r not pregnant and having AF then y this lining is so thick...and D&C will make the situation more worse for u ....God knows what is all happening to us and Y ??//

I pray that ur lining should shed naturally so that u can start with clomid again...

My appointment is on 22nd let see what doc will advice to me...

Lucky44 - March 21

Update- the blood test results show I didn't ovulate but they're not sure if they tested too early. Anyway, I am going for another blood test appointment on Monday to re-check. They told me that in the meantime if I get AF to stick with 50mg . Being on 50 is only 'at best,' producing one follicle on my right side so I am confused as to why I am remaining on the low dose but have to trust the experts.

Baby fever I will be thinking of you tomorrow please keep us updated x

BabyFever12 - March 22

Lucky - What a mess!!! It doesn't sound like you can get a straight answer about anything! I'm so sorry. :( Did they happen to tell you what your actual progesterone level was?

This is the chart that was posted to my labcorp results:

Follicular phase 0.2 ? 1.5
Luteal phase 1.7 ? 27.0
Ovulation phase 0.8 ? 3.0

Those are the normal ranges for progesterone levels at the different phases of your cycle. You can see that the numbers would be considerably off if they happened to draw your blood work at the wrong time.

It really doesn't make sense to keep you at 50mg if they said you did not ovulate. What did your one follicle measure? Hoping you get some better news soon.

Jinni - I don't understand either. It's crazy. If it does happen to be just a blood clot, then it still doesn't explain why my lining is so thick. I'm really confused.

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! Let us know what the doctor says.

BabyFever12 - March 22

JOY - Any update on progesterone levels? Have you done an HPT yet?

Lucky44 - March 22

I know and because I have nobody to talk to (until I found this forum) I feel like I'm not really being looked after and so confide as to what to expect. They never go into many details when they give me the results and I am certainly never shown any levels :(

1st round - started 30th jan so started tablets (2-5) on 31st Jan andI had 1 mature folliclat measuring 16 and she said my womb was thickening nicely. 28 day cycle

2nd round started AF 26th Feb so started tablets (2-5) on 27th jan. Went for a scan on 7th Feb and had one possible follicle at 12 (not mature) but they thought that either they scanned too early or I won't ovulate this month.

This is why I'm so confused as to why they are keeping me on the low dose. They originally prescribed me clomid as DH has low sperm count and so I needed to produce more targets but since then I've found out from a different nurse that they weren't sure if I was actually ovulating as a blood test revealed I didn't ovulate when they were testing us both.

It's so difficult as you are literally in the hands of someone else. Do you think I should call up another clinic for advice, call my fertility nurse again or just go with her advice? This will be my 3rd final round now.

Babyfever Good luck for today x
