Male Fertility Supplements
There are a good number of male fertility supplements that can serve to increase sperm count, motility, and quality. You can get these fertility supplements by increasing your dietary intake of foods with these attributes, or by taking supplements in tablet form. Here is a list of some of the more well-known herbs and supplements that can be used to improve male fertility:
*Arginine—Arginine has been examined to determine how it impacts on sperm count and motility. In particular, it has been found that l-arginine may have a beneficial effect on sperm. Arginine is found in turkey, meat, and chicken, but l-arginine is created through a process of fermentation which helps separate out the arginine from among other proteins. Arginines, both "free" and "bound" are found in large quantities in human sperm.
Sperm Function
*Carnitine—This amino acid occurs in nature and can be found in high concentrations in sperm. Carnitine is essential for sperm function. Athletes swear by carnitine as a body-building and endurance-enhancing supplement.
*Coenzyme Q10—This substance helps the nutrients inside the cells to oxidize, creating energy. This energy serves to increase the volume of semen and sperm motility.
* Ginseng (Panax ginseng)—This fragrant root has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine to increase male potency, fertility, and semen volume.
Fatty Acids
*Omega fatty acids—These fatty acids can be found in vegetable oils, leafy greens, and fish like salmon and mackerel. Evening primrose and starflower oils contain omega-6 fatty acids, which are recommended supplements for male fertility.
*Pumpkin seeds—These are a terrific resource for aiding male fertility as the seeds contain lots of zinc and fatty acids.
*Selenium—Only a trace is needed in the human and animal diet, but making sure you get enough of this mineral can enhance your fertility. You can get selenium by eating whole grains, dairy products, fish, meat, and poultry.
Testosterone Levels
*Zinc—Many experts believe that zinc deficiency can deplete levels of sperm within the semen. Enough zinc in your diet helps you increase sperm counts and keep your testosterone levels high enough for the production of healthy sperm.
Eating a sensible diet containing lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, and poultry is the first step in making you your fertile best. Stay away, as much as possible, from processed foods, junk food, and foods with high levels of hard, saturated fats. Try to cut down or eliminate soda and other bubbly beverages since these alter the balance within the body and detract from your wellbeing. Also, drink as much water as you can to rid yourself of all toxins stored within your body.
