HERE IS MY STORY WEN I WAS 16 YRS OLD WITCH IT WAS 2 YEARS AGO.. I WAS HAVING IRREGULAR PERIOD ... THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY PERIOD STOPPED. :o
I THOUGHT I WAS PREGGO . OR IT WAS JUST A NORMAL THING BUT I WAS NOT PREGNANT .. SO I IGNORED ME PMS :/ LATER WEN I GOT MARRIED I WAS TRYING TO GET PREGNANT THIS WAS IN 2008.. HAD STILL NO PERIODS.. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND TOLD HIM ABOUT HE SAID HE NEED IT TO DO SOME BLOOD TEST SO HE DID .. THE RESULTS CAME IN . HE SAID I HAD HI MALE HORMONE LEVELS I WAS what!!!!!!! I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE MENT I GOT SO SCARED .. HE SAID "IM GONNA REFFER YOU TO A SPECIAL DOCTOR to help you get pregnant and explain to u " ok so i went with the specialist she send me to get viginal ultra sound they said everything seem normal they were checking for cyst in my ovaries i still had no idea what they where.... :( went back to my specialist she told me . i had PCOS !!!!!! she said it was an insulin resistant etc..... that can couse weight gain hair like on male body part . omg she scared me to dead.. i told her i wanted to get preggo.. she ok then i will prescribe you METFORMIN hunny this will take time but u gotta but efford into it avoid sugar or carbohydrate foods.. i tryed :) in less then two weeks i started spotting i was so happy .. then i stopped the medication and i completely dont watch what i ate.. then i was seeing facial hair on my chin stomach thighs omg !!! i said i had to do something bout it ... plus i really wanted a baby .. :( so i did know this is my first week back to the medication ... im taking same dosage as i was before this is my first week ive been having some cramping????? i hope this might be a good sign ;) am extremely watching what i eat .. drink lots of water and replaces anything for WATER!!! i but LOW GL food .. and also get fiber . soymilk . wheat all the good stuff....... SO I WILL KEEP U GUYS UPDATED ON HOW IT GOES THIS TIME I WONT BE STUPID ENOUGHT TO GO OFF OF IT .. I REALLY WANNA BE A MOTHER :) THIS YEAR AND I DO HAVE HOPE :) SO IM FIGHTING PCOS !!!! period.............. i have a doctor apointment on march the 8th i will let u guys know how it went please keep me in your prayers please please ............... :/
AND ONE QUESTION???????????? CAN U STILL OVULATE WITHOUT HAVING A PERIOD AT ALL?????? I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS QUESTION :/

I am in the same boat as you...I am really illetrate when it comes to that information that doc tries to explain to me :(
i married in 2008 too and past 8 months we've been trying...and since past 6 months my period totally messed up...in january my doc did ovaluation test she said i didn't ovoulate...she didn't tell me i have pcos...well i m on metformin since last week...sick to my stomach...she gave no advice what 2 eat...in fact u gave more better advice then her in what to eat...
i have same question can we get preg without a period while on metformin..my lasst period was december 30..and before that october 20...and today is feb 22.....

Hi All, thanks for all the usefull information. I started taking metformin 4/14/11 500mg, had some awful naesua but that was it, started 1000mg 4/21/11, a little naesua and will start 1500mg tonight. My doc put me on it because I have PCOS and just found out I'm pre diabetic. Me and my husband have without any king of protection for almost four years now and have said if it happens it was ment to be if not it wasn't. I have a daughter thats 13 and have had one miscariage at 6 weeks. I am now 3 days late and am not sure if this is due to just starting the metformin or if I'm posibbly pregnant. Any advise on this???

Nava did you get pregnant by taking the birth control pill & metformin? I am trying to get pregnant and thats what I am taking.

I see that people don't really get on here anymore, but I would love to hear more success stories or personally talk to people going through the same things. None of my family nor friends suffer from pcos or have trouble conceiving, so I often feel alone. My husband and I have been TTC for about 2 years with NO LUCK. I was diagnosed with PCOS in the summer of 2010. It was great to put a name to my pain and ammenorrhea (no periods, litterally! Unless I was using BC.). After suffering cervical carcinoma in situ last year my doc made us put our journey on hold. I'm now having regular paps so my doc has agreed to help us out. She prescribed metformin 1000 mg a day to start out and provera to bring on a period, so I don't have to wait and wait for metformin to do it. Hopefully sticking with the metformin it will keep them regular, bc I have NEVER been regular. And hopefully I will begin to ovulate. I'm ecstatic! I pray the metformin will do the job =). If not, she will add clomid in 3 months. Wish us luck! Share your story! Let's get this thread going again =).

Hello, my name is Shenika, and I've read soooo many successful stories about taking Metformin that really has given me confidence along with praying to Jesus for a blessing. In July of 2009, I was diagnosed with PCOS after overcoming the shame to talk with my OB/GYN about me not being able to conceive after years and years of trying. I've always had irregular cycles....for a while I use to bleed for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, and I was prescribed birth control to avoid bleeding so heavily and for weeks. I didn't take my meds faithfully,then my cycle completely stopped coming on, never had any pre-menstrual symptoms, absence of AF is every female's dream that had came true to me. Well, I got married to my husband after 10 yrs of dating, and I've never told him my situation until a few weeks ago, because he desperately wants another child since his are all grown, and we don't have any. Well my OB now has me taking Metformin 850mg 2x a day since 9/30/11 for the cyst on my ovaries, and Aygestin for the first 10 days to make my cycle come on within a week later. I am patiently waiting for the day I can say I'm pregnant!! All of these success stories have me giving myself a deadline of 6 months to try conceiving! Dx with PCOS and pre-diabetic 9/23/11 actually had it since I was 14 undiagnosed. Begin 750mg Met last week just bean 1500mg Met today. Experienced nausea, diarrhea, and a little heartburn but not enough to stop. I have been irregular since I was 14 I am 26 now, ive been with my husband for almost 10 yrs. unprotected never really trying but hoping it would happen. I am very inspired by all the success stories and I am beginning to feel very hopeful that this will help us conceive now that we are really trying. Please keep in touch with more stories of success getting preggo with PCOS. Im hoping to be blessed by 2012 but I know its all in the hands of the Lord.

I agree, it will happen in the Lord's timing for us all to be parents! At first I was forcing myself to accept that I'd never experience motherhood, and I thought about adopting. God kept speaking to me about finding the right doctor to diagnose what's really wrong, and I know it was truly a blessing when he ran over 10 tests on me along with a transvaginal ultrasound and found out that all along it has been PCOS. After reading the success stories, I've become excited and I was determined to fight through all the symptoms of nausea, diarrhea, and heartburn reminding myself this is all for our baby! :) Baby dust to gannmaz......I will keep everybody posted, and you do the same.

Hi asdbg8, just wanted to update you that I got my 1st normal period Dec 22nd after taking Met for a little over a month. And to my suprise I am PREGNANT for the 1st time!!! I found out on New Years Day just 4 days ago after going to the ER complaining of abdominal pain and light spotting. It is obviously extremely early and no guarantee I wont miscarry however im staying hopeful and happy to know that I can get pregnant. I will keep you posted please do the same.

Congrats gannmaz!!! I'm still taking the Metformin and Aygestin. My cycle has regulated YET, but I'm still believing that 2012 is really my year to be a mommy! I'm soooo happy for you, and it's funny that I want it to be a surprise when I'm told that I'm pregnant. Well, you take care of yourself and RELAX AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Please keep me posted and I will keep you posted too!!! :) *Baby Dust*

hi ladies i have been reading all the success stories and glad i found a place to talk so here is my story i have pcos since i was 15 was on bc pills since then 2 1/2 yrs ago i got off bc pill and ttc and nothing 5 cycles of clomid and still nothing period has been irregular since off the bc pills started metformin on nov 23 got my period dec 21 im having a hard time getting to 2000mg of met the side effects are horrible lol but im suppose to start clomid this mth and im hoping for a bfp but im not having much hope
