Nadine, I am also ovulating. When I looked into it Chlomid releases more eggs. So there is a higher chance of pregnancy. We will see.

Hi everyone. I am not on Chlomid but I've heard that it is a good way to increase your chances of getting pregnant. I am 38 and have been trying to get pregnant for the last 1 1/2 years and have been unsuccessful. My periods are extremely regular and the ovulation test kits indicate that I am ovulating. I also did blood tests on day 20 of my cycle about 6 months ago and they indicated that I did ovulate. I have one child who is 2 1/2 so I think my only problem is stress but I'm really scared that my time is running out and I want to get pregnant ASAP. Would I be a candidate for Chlomid? Is anyone's situation like mine?

Nadine - June 24

Thanks Carolyn,
Will you be taking clomid any time soon?

Who is clomid for anyway? Is it for all women?

Barbara - June 26

I'm not sure if I"m the right candidate for clomid. How do I know?

Brandy - June 26

I have been taking Clomid for 8 months..so 8 cycles, and I haven't had any luck with it so far. I was originally taking Clomid on CD 3-7 (for the first 6 mos), then the last two months I took it on CD 1-5...which is known to have a higher pregnancy rate, but is not recommended because of the possiblity of multiples; but my symptoms became worse. More specifically hot flashe, fatigue and the ability to cry at the drop of a hat.
I have heard that stress can play a role in infertility...but I don't think you should have a problem. I got pregnant with my first five years ago and I was working at a very stressful workplace. (and I still got pregnant). Of course AFTER I got pregnant I quit. :)
Good Luck to you. If you have any more questions please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Nadine, sorry just checked the board today. I have already taken Chlomid day 5 thru 9. And had the HSG test on day 6. My husband and I have been trying every other day starting day 11 once the side effects went away from Chlomid and test. I am now on day 20 still trying and hopefully it will work out the end of this month.

MELISSA - June 30

My doc put me on provera for 10 days and then gave me 50 mg clomid for days 2-6. I just went in on cd 21 and she said I did not ovulate. my number is only 12.9. I do not know where that falls on the scale. can anyone help. I am now supposed to start clomid 100 mg in about a week. I am starting to get frustrated. I got preg with my daughter my first month off birth control 2 yrs ago and then got preg last aug also my first month off birth control but miscarried at 5 wks. Has any one been in the same boat. I am getting to the point of not wanting to try anymore.

LeAnn - July 1

Hi Elizabeth -
I got pregnant while on the pill 1st time I got pregnant. This time after 2 years of trying doc put me on 50mg of clomid and also told me to do the ovulation test sticks - I did that and the stick told me I was ovulating on day 18 - I went and did my blood work and the nurse called me a few days later and asked if I'd missed a period and I was happy to say yes. Hang in there, hopefully, you won't have to wait too long.

Diane - July 2

I am currently on my first month of 150mg Chlomid. My doctor told me I can try at this dosage for 4 cycles. Why do doctors restrict usage for 3 or 4 cycles? Why the limit? Are there long term side effects? Thanks - and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! HANG IN THERE!

Kelly - July 2

Hello Diane, I just went to OB today and asked the same question as yours. My doc. said that statistically speaking, once the correct dose of clomid is given (you ovulate) then you should be pregnant w/in 3 cycles. After that the chances of conceiving do not increase that much. Say up to six months. After 4-6 mths of trying on clomid w/ an ovulatory cycle and no pregnancy has occured, then you will usually be referred to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). Hope this helps and best of luck!! Not sure about any long term side effects :)

Drew - July 2

Diane, they restirict the cycles of Clomid cause there is a risk of ovarian cysts. As for long term effects they used to think it increased your chances of uterine cancer but have now found that not to be true. Hope this helps!!

Meg - July 22

I have cysts on my ovaries and my RE specialist wants to put me on Clomid on my next cycle -- but doesn't Clomid cause more cysts?

snuggles - April 12
