Clomid success story - it does work!

Hi Sal1984! I'm only taking acidophilus twice a day, because I wanted to see if it got better from that before I call my doc. So far it's about 80% better, but I feel the same way, afraid to treat it any other way in case it messes something up. I think Im going to keep taking acidophilus and hope it just goes away on its own. So bizarre and annoying because I never get those.

I'm so sorry you lost your pregnancy, that's awful. I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you get preg naturally or were you on Clomid? If so what dose?

SAL1984 - January 25

Thanks for responding kittymom! What is acidophilus? Did your doctor prescribe it to you or is it something you can pick up at the drugstore?

I lost my pregnancy in May of 2012. I was on 50 mg's of Clomid, round 5 when I got pregnant. My doctor prescribed me Clomid because I do ovulate on my own, but not at the right time. I ovulate too soon, making my eggs not as strong. With the Clomid I ovulate "normally." Being on round 6 makes me incredibly anxious. I thought for sure it would have happened by now. If it does not happen this round they are going to take a look at my tubes. I have no clue what they plan on doing from there and I'm not really sure what my options are at that point either. I'm trying so hard to keep my head up, but sometimes all I want to do is give up. Who knew getting pregnant would be this hard!?!?

Acidophilus (also called Lactobacillus acidophilus) is the good bacteria that's in your gut. I think with a YI bad bacteria or fungus is more abundant so if you put more of the good bacteria in it could help. I got a bottle of tablets at the grocery store but it's also in most yogurts.

Wow that's terrible that you went through all that and lost the baby, I'm so sorry. I've heard of it working for people after multiple tries, so maybe the 6th time will be it! I also had my tubes checked but before I started Clomid, so maybe it's worth checking them out, if anything just so you can rule that out.

If it doesn't work this time, would you consider an IUI? Has your spouse/significant other been checked? Maybe it's not you!

I know exactly how you feel. Other people seem to get pregnant so easily, it's just not fair. I never thought it would be so hard either! Hang in there, it will all be worth it in the end. I'll keep you in my prayers....

Oh, OK, got it! I may give that a try.

My husband and I have talked about IUI, but if all looks well on both ends, I think the doctor is just going to give it more time. Also, my insurance, nor his, covers infertility treatments so all expenses are paid out of pocket. Luckily Clomid is relatively cheap. Are IUI treatments costly? I haven't done much research into it yet, but have read and heard of numerous success stories through the use of IUI.

Sal1984: Sure give it a try, it should help.

That's a bummer your insurance companies don't cover infertility treatments. I'm not totally sure how much an IUI costs but I think it's a few hundred dollars, much less than IVF.

Sal1984-
I too had an IUI. My insurance didn't cover anything but my dh sperm washing. The IUI was $150 the shot I had to take was $135 and his sperm washing was also $135 but we only has to pay about $15. Either way I would still have done it and if it doesn't work this time I'm going to do it again next month. I read there was something else that could be done where they insert the sperm into the tube and not the uterus. I'm going to discuss that with my dr. I was reading where it said success rate with spouse sperm is 5-40% but donor is 40-70%. That makes no sense to me so I'm going to also ask about that.
Good luck to you all!

Amanda1986 - January 26

That is weird about the donor being a higher percentage..what exactly does that mean anyway?
My friend is having an IUI done and she said total it was about $350.
This 2ww is driving me crazy yall!! I have zero symptoms of pregnancy so far but I'm only 6dpo. Not too optimistic today! If the next 2 rounds of clomid aren't successful for me, we are going to do the IUI as well.
Hope you ladies are having a great day! :)

SAL1984 - January 26

That's not bad at all! I was actually talking with my husband about IUI this morning and he was pretty receptive towards the idea--especially once I compared it with IVF costs.

Amanda1986--I know what you mean about the 2ww! I'm roughly 4/5 dpo. This is the part I hate most. I'm having some breast tenderness, but I am 100% convinced it is because of the Clomid. I am trying to remain optimistic. I guess we all really are on the same track!

Hang in there everyone!

Not having a very good day today. I woke up with a migraine and didn't want to take my prescription meds until I knew if I was pg, so took a HPT and it was BFN (13 dpIUI). I suppose this was just my usual PMS migraine. This 2WW has been so confusing, first the YI, then the nipple soreness and CM..I thought I had a chance, but I guess whatever 'symptoms' I thought I had were either from the Clomid or the Ovidrel (or both). Now I just have to wait for AF to come, which feels worse than the 2WW. (sigh) so depressed knowing it was all a waste and I have to do it over again next month.

Amanda1986 - January 29

Kitty, I am sorry to hear that. Dont give up or get too discouraged. Good things come to those who wait and we will have our time to shine soon. I dont think I am this round either :( I took a hpt twice...but i know it was probably too soon (7dpo and 8dpo). I am 9dpo today and I am too scared to pee on a stick because of the dreaded BFN. Hang in there ladies.

mtaylor829 - January 29

kittymom:
I think af is showing up for me as well...been cramping and nipple soreness..I took a couple hpt and both were bfn...I just try to look at there is always next month. Try to keep your head up because we are definitely in this together :)
Baby Dust to everyone!

Amanda1986 - January 29

mtaylor, how many dpo are you? i'm pretty sure these are the most depressing and frustrating times i feel like none of my friends understand. they get pregnant just by looking at their hubbies. wahhh :( i feel like whining, but i suppose ill keep my head up :)

mtaylor829 - January 29

I am 13dpIUI

Hello Everyone, This is the first time I have ever posted on one of these forums. DH and I have been TTC for over a year now, with no luck I finally went to the doctor and she told me my ovaries were filled with eggs and I probably was not ovulating. She has done some tests to rule out PCOS, but its looking like that might be the diagnosis. I am now waiting to start my period so she can start me on Clomid. Has anyone with PCOS had success with Clomid??

kittymom - January 29

Well it seems like AF is starting already, so at least I didn't have to wait too long. I let myself fall apart this morning, but now I'm just going to force myself to get excited for next month.

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging words. It really helps knowing that there are women out there going through the same thing that I am. I hope we all get some good news over the next few weeks!

Jinni - January 30

Hi annamazing...welcome to this forum..I was also diagnosis PCOs ..irregular periods, no ovulation at all..My fertility doc put me on clomid ...I had completed my first round...and waiting....

So believe in God these medicines r only the mediator which help us in believing that we can also get pregnant....
