Hello ladies. I read all your posts and I love to hear that there are so many success stories with HSG. My doctor didn't recommend it for me and she told me to just start clomid. But now i'm thinking that i really should try HSG first. I just had a few questions. Do you think i should do HSG first and then if I don't get prego then take clomid? Is HSG covered with insurance? Please help. Thanks! oh and a little background about me. I'm 29, dh is 34. He checked out fine. we've been trying for a year now. Just getting a little frustrated. =P

sojen...hi there..29 here too..ttc 1 year also... had an HSG 2 months ago...I waiting that very next cycle and then the following (which is the current cycle) I started clomid so I'm 8dpo now...I totally understand being frustrated...I think I'm queen of frustration lately LOL...well good luck and keep us posted baby dust!

Hi leelee... so the HSG didn't work? My doctor kept telling me to just go straight to clomid... I don't know... was your HSG procedure covered under insurance? This TTC is getting expensive =P

Hi sojen! My HSG was covered by my insurance because it is considered diagnostic. What type of doctor are you going to? Endo or just an OBGYN? My Endo was the one who told me that before I could move forward with clomid etc. he wanted to rule out all other problems. I am hoping that the next step which will be clomid will work and I won't need to do everything else.

Oh it was... Thanks JLPO! I've only gone to my gyno for consultation for conception. I left a message with her saying that I really would like to do the HSG before moving forward too. I'll definitely keep you posted. I'm really glad there is a place like these forums that i can go to for advice.

sorry, I forgot to put that earlier my HSG was not covered by ins. this is what I found out...called the ins. co. and they said anything fertility that they didn't cover...then called the hospital and asked how they coded it...they said it depends on how the dr. codes it...so then called the dr. and they said they code it as fertility so I was out of luck...but I hope that yours does cover it...that would be great! just for the sake of information...mine cost a total of about $1000 that's dr. and hospital... I felt much better after having mine...knowing there were no blockages and we could move on to the next thing... good luck to you! :-)

I had an hsg 2 months ago. no luck getting pregnant. Am on my first round of clomid now.

i just got results back for husband's s/a and everything is normal except for Morphology, i guess it is only at a 1%. They want to retest him again... has anyone had this problem?

My husband did his S/A and the first round, and everything was A OK except for his low Morphology 9%. But he took his test around the time we went on an Alaskan Cruise. Then a month later he retook it and his results and it all passed. I made him take vitamins, folic acid, and lots of Orange Juice for Vitamin C..... I don't know what affected his good results.. if it was the vitamins or the lack of stress from traveling. So until your DH takes his next test, have him exercise, and take vitamins and lots of OJ. HOpe this helps. =P

familiar faces! I had the HSG on cd 3 then started the clomid on 5-9. They said things look good and clear and that by cleaning things out it increased my chances another 30 percent. Then I startted metforin almost 2 weeks ago and that was supposed to increase even more and I also took Clomid 150 last month and I have 200 for next cycle but will take from 3-7. I had such high hopes that with going through all of this I would be pg right away. I am keeping the faith though!!

sojen- my dh is going to take his s/a again on Monday, but do you think i should wait longer? his last s/a was only a week and a half ago so i am not sure the results will be any different. My dr. made it seem like they won't do anything without getting another s/a done and it seems like he will go right to IUI.

jlpo - Only a week in between... that seems kinda short. I don't know what your doc recommended, but mine said definitely wait three weeks and retest.... because it could have been his stress level...etc.... well if the doc says test in a week, tell your DH to exercise and drink lots of OJ and take his vitamins.... and of course he should continue his regimen even after the testing. =P GL to you!! =)

GRUVIECHICK and all of the other ladies thanks for the support. Hello again, I posted a week ago just before I had my HSG . I took 3 advils (2 one hour before and another 1/2 hr before) For me it actually was about the same as a menstrual cramp, especially when they inflated the little balloon to keep the catheter in place. It was really cool to see the solution go through the fallopian tubes. Good news, the Dr. said that everything was all clear and that everything looked great. My dh and I bd'd 3 days later and then 5 days later. I felt a little crampy the first two days, but not enough to take any Advil. There was someone who asked about "MORPHOLOGY" and my husband tested at 5% which is not very good because anything under 4% low. I would recommend waiting more than a week before retesting and pump him up with some daily men's vitamins and tell him to stay away from Alcohol and caffeine. I have heard that it can really improve #'s. that is what we are doing and I will post when we get his new results back.

Just had an HSG test on Friday, had sex last night Tuesday night and it really hurt. Had to stop having sex. I needed 3 advil and a hot bath. Anyone else out there with this issue? Just called the Dr but it will take forever to get a call back. Worried.

Also my Dr never gave me any meds after the HSG test...have all of you gotten some meds after the test?
I also noticed that all of you have gotten clomid right away. My Dr. said to try for a few months after the test. I assume people get the clomid if ovulation is bad?
Mine was good.
