I had an HSG on May 4. It was terrible- very sever cramping, bleeding, sick to my stomach- ewven thought it appeared everything was open. But I ovulated on May 9 and got pregnant. I had a positive home pregnancy test on May 25 and had it confirmed with a blood test. My husband and I had been trying for 9 months and were about to start all the fertility drugs... I believe that perhaps my tubes were blocked and this HSG "unclogged" them. I have a history of BV and believe this had something to do with it. Anyway, I have been cramping a lot for the past week but no blood. Does anyone know if this is normal? I have my first real appointment with my OBGYN on June 23. Any thoughts would be so helpful. I'm scared and have never been through this.

I'm 8.5 weeks pregnant and for my first 4-5 weeks I had very light menstrual-like cramping. It is perfectly normal as long as there is no bleeding along with it. From everything I have read and what my doctor told me, the cramping is as a result of your uterus contracting & growing as the baby begins to grow. Now I don't get it as often. Every once in awhile I'll get it but at first it was almost constant througout the day. Congrats on your pregnancy and best of luck to you!

I too had cramping during my first few weeks of pregnancy...I am currently 9 weeks pregnant! My 10th week begins tomorrow. Once in awhile, I still have a cramp or two...doctor says it's "normal" because my uterus is expanding. As long as there is no bleeding, everything is probably fine.
Best of luck to everyone...after the HSG, be sure to have intercourse at least every other day until your period. That's what worked for me! Baby dust!

I had HSG on 6/6 which was bearable with a mild cramp, I took motrin an hour before the test which possibly could have helped with the less cramps. I had AF on 5/28, so ladies when are my fertile days so i start the baby dance. Thanks a lot and baby dust to us all.

I had my HSG test yesterday. I must say that I was cramped up for awhile and I bled like crazy (sorry TMI). But I just want to understand something ... I heard my Doc say that my left tube there was a little spillage, what does that mean? I couldn't hear what she was saying about the right one but it doesn't sound to promising. She told me to book an appointment and we would discuss the next step. I told my DH what she said and he said not to worry it might not be serious. But I'm still worrying I want a baby so bad and I want to give my DH a child so bad it hurts. Sorry for taking up so much time but I have a question ... how long after HSG test can you have sex. I was thinking about tonight reason being I took my temp this morning and it was 36.2 (the lowest my temps have ever been). Is it safe for me to have sex now? I'm not spotting anymore. TIA for your response.

I had the HSG test on May 10, 2005. It was very, very painful, if they did not have me tied down, I would have jumped off the table :) My tubes were blocked, the dye cleared them. My husband and I have been trying for 6 months. My period was due on May 28, 2005. I took a HPT and it was negative. However when I conversed with my doctor, he said that my hormone level may not be escalated to wait a couple more weeks. I feel PG but that can be wishful thinking. Did any of you experience this? This site makes me very hopeful. Baby Dust to all of you and God Bless.

Lisa, Did you take any medicine before you went to get your HSG done? I go to have mine done today.

Amanda, No I did not. My doctor said that the reason it was very painful was due to the fact, I had a lot of blockage. I wish you Luck. I tolerated the pain because of the outcome (baby dust ;) Let me know.

I had my test today and I must say it wasn't like nothing I expected. I did feel pain but it was like cramps or something like that but worse. I took two Motrin 800's about an hour before the exam. I kept breathing in and out and before I knew it, it was over. I didn't even feel the tube go into my cervix. The pain really started once he started pumping the dye in. Afterwards I had little cramps but I felt just fine. The doctor says that the liquid went through my tubes pretty quickly and I had spillage on both ends. NO BLOCKAGE!!!! I am so happy. I hope to be pregnant this month. Baby dust to all and thanks for all the advice and encouragement. I tell you GOD really does answer prayers!!!!!!!

I received the results of my HSG on Friday and thank God, my tubes are clear! This is a true miracle for me because surgery had proven that they were blocked and the doctor I was seeing at the time set me up for IVF. I never wanted to go that route because of the cost and the lack of a guareenteed success. I'm so glad that I found this facility that specializes in unblocking tubes through massage therapy! The HSG proved how successful they were in treating me! I had intercourse on the 3rd day after
my procedure because my ovulation predictor kit proved positive. The doctor who performed the HSG told me to wait 7 days after the procedure. My gyn doctor told me not to wait and to start immediately! I feel so blessed and I'm waiting patiently for this baby so we'll see what happens next! Baby Dust and Blessings to you all! Smooches!
