To Kerri, I was just wondering how far along are you? and hows your pregnancy going. I went in today to get an ultrasound to see the baby's heartbeat and to our surprise we got to see 2 heartbeats. We all were shocked, dr my hubby and I. But that explains why i've been so sick throwing up. For the past week i've felt so sick and nauseas that all I do is puke. I told the dr that explains it, I didn't remember being this sick when I was pregnant for my daughter. I am now 7 weeks and I pray to god that he lets me have these babies. I've waited so long.

Hi Nora.....oh my goodness, babies times two!!! That's so exciting! I'm so sorry that you're not feeling well. I went thru that for about a week and a half then it got much better. I'm 8.5 weeks and I'll go in tomorrow for an u/s. I already had one at 6 weeks and saw the tiny heartbeat...but there was only one....which is blessing enough! I'm still on the Metformin...how about you, are you still taking the Metformin? You probably can't even keep it down, bless your heart. I'll keep ya posted on what the OB/GYN says at my appoinment tomorrow.

Hi kerri- No i'm not on the metformin. My new dr. told me to stop it. Although I was scared to I did. Yesterday when he did the ultrasound it was to see the heartbeat but instead he seen two. I'm still in shock but i'm so excited. Yes please let me know how your u/s went. When is your due date? Mine is June 12 but dr. said he'll probably cesaren. So it might be earlier. I'm okay with that because I'm alittle scared to push two out. Well keep me posted on how your doing and I'll keep in touch. Take care.

Four years ago I went on Metformin for PCOS and infertility. 1500mg. I was pregnant within 6 months. After some exhaustive research, I made the decision to stay on Metformin throughout my pregnancy. I took 1500 through my first trimester than lowered the dosage to 1000mg throughout. All this was done with the blessing of my infertility specialist. I had a great and very healthy pregnancy. I gained a reasonable amount of weight...30 pounds and no gestational diabetes which is a huge risk when y ou have PCOS. I also delivered a very healthy baby girl at the end of my term. She just turned three and I have yet to see any side effects to my taking Metformin through my pregnancy with her. My advice is too stay on it. and enjoy a healthier pregnancy. I would however ask your doctor about discontinuing use for breastfeeding as I have read that it can make its way into breast milk.
I just recently went back on Metformin for baby number two. Fingers crossed.

Thank you Nancy for sharing your experience....I went in today for 8.5 week sono and baby looked great with strong with heart beat--brought tears to my eyes. I'm on 1000mg of Metformin daily which I'll continue thru the first trimester and then I might stay with the 1000 or drop it down to 500 mg thru rest of pregnancy....doctor said it will help with gestational diabetes and very large babies run in our families and the Metformin should help that the baby isn't insulin resistant as well. I didn't get a chance to ask about the breast feeding yet.....but alls good so far. Yes, Stef I DO remember you from the other posts....how are you doing? Are you still on the Metformin? Hope all is well

I finally found a doctor willing to help me. I have PCOS and I had gone to 2 previous GYN's who told me to lose weight (and trust me-I have no end of willpower and still can't seem to lose weight). I saw this new doctor last Friday and he prescribed Metformin-take 500mg for 1 week, then up to 1000mg for a week and then up to 1500mg and stay there until I see him again in January. My question is did this help with insulin resistance enough that other women have lost weight? If so... very much? The side effects are worse than I anticipated, but I have a very sensitive stomach to begin with. I have learned so much already just by reading the threads on this site. Thanks so much for an help that you can give me.

Hi Kerri- I went to do another ultrasound yesterday because they wanted to see if I had a split uterus. I get the results on mon. when I go back to see my dr. I got to listen to two of the babies heartbeats and I started to tear up a little. They are so cute. They both measured up to be about 7 weeks and 3 days. And I guess because this is my second pregnancy I feel the twitching already, not all the time but sometimes. The nausea and vomiting is so bad, I can barely hold anything down. So did you get to hear your babies heartbeat yet? Keep in touch.

Hi Nora...how neat to hear 2 heartbeats...any guesses on the genders? I've heard the heartbeat twice..once at 6 weeks and again yesterday at 8.5 weeks. My due date got moved up to June 2nd...it looked like a little teddaygraham on the screen so we've nicknamed the baby "teddy" I'm still on the Metformin and plan on staying on it for thru the first trimester. Hope your morning, noon, and night sickness gets better!

I went to the doctor and he told me I had pcos 2:1 he said it would be easier b/c of the ratio. He put me on provera for one week to make my cycle come on then. I was on metformin for one week (500mg) after I finish with those i have to take fortamet 1000 mg for two months. If i am not pregnant by then I will be but on clomid. Have any of you ever been on fortamet and if so did you get pregnant. Good luck to everyone and please pray for me b/c I will be praying for you all.

Hey ladies. I have been on metformin for about a week now I was diagnosed with PCOS 7-8 years ago. I have been having some nausea and craving carbs a bit. The doc. also put me on Provera again to induce my period. I had a m/c in may and have been trying since with no luck ovulating I only have had 3 periods in the 6 mos. Hopefully the meformin will do the trick! Really excited about hearing all of the success stories! Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Well Joanne, I was put on Metfomin to bring my a/f to normal to help me also. But I haven't had my period since I started taking 1000mg a day.. Its been about month and a half now so maybe it takes time to work on some people. We are all different
