high PROLACTIN levels

Rachel, I had a meltdown after seeing the re also. I was so confused! My re hasn't mentioned pcos or want to do insulin test. She did think the spotting could be from polyps or possible endometriosis. I don't have any symptoms of either except for the spotting. I'm going to do an internal untrasound with sailine to check for poylps, uterus, and egg reserve in ovaries. I'm also thinking about doing hsg? Did the re mention any of those tests to you? Do you have any symptoms of pcos? I'm almost positive that I ovulate. I have cm, lh surge, and real a/f exactly two weeks after bbt rise. But then again, who knows!!

YEs, I had the sonohysterography done also (saline solution test with u/s) and it came out perfect. The thing that caught the endocrinologists attention was the slightly elevated prolactin levels and if you google the internet for pcos and elevated prolactin it says it is sometimes a symptom. Needless to say I am freaked out, I want to know what is wrong with me.

The endometrial biopsy results will determine if I did in fact ovulate, my chart sure shows it did and like you mentioned I get the c/m, lh surge, ovulation pain and everything.

Rachel, I completely understand. It's so frustrating. Do you have any children? I have a 2 1/2 yr old son. I got pregnant in 5 months with him. Do you have any other symptoms that would indicate pcos? It sure sounds like we might have the same thing. I'm on another thread Anyone ttc in july ch 1, you're more than welcome to join us. We just talk and vent about this ttc. A lot of the women have been through the testing process. I will be sure to continue to check in here with you. I'm so interested to see your results.

No, I don't have any children at all. So needless to say I am terrified of the thought of not ever being able to experience motherhood with my own children. I get my glucose test tomorrow and the prolactin/thyroid test on Thursday (3rd time for this one). I don't relaly have any more symptoms of pcos, I really know very little about it actually. We shall see later this month once I meet with the fertility specialist as to her thoughts.

hi guys- saw my doc this morning- lap is scheduled for July 28th. I am nervous about it- never went through surgery before. Anyone out there can tell me their experience with it? I'm afraid of what is found but also what is not found.

Rachel5 - July 11

I have never had a lap done before but in all honesty wish I was getting one. My mother who is a nurse said that it is the best diagnostic tool available. It's best to know what you are dealing with then not based on what I've been going through lately - do I have an adenoma OR do I have PCOS OR what else - I can totally understand that your are nervous though but don't be. I assume it is the same anesthetic they give for getting your wisdom teeth out. Good luck, I want to know what the results are!

Thanks Rachel5- I have had my wisdom teeth out before- that was a piece of cake- I guess it's just what they find- I honestly want something to be found so that they fix it while in there. I guess I 'd be disappointed if I went through it and he said- we couldn't find anything!! Nothing was found through ultrasound and HSG- I guess I just feel like it might be a waste of time and money and pain. On the other hand- they will be able to view everything going on this way! Doc also mentioned to prevent pregnancy- I ovulate tomorrow and we've been ttc the past three days.

Bciervo, good luck with the lap. Maybe you will get some answers. Does your insurance cover your lap? I'm sure I will be headed down the same road eventually. I have heard that it's not too bad of a procedure. You should ask around on the Q&A, I'm sure you will get some feedback for others who've already had it done.

thanks bl- yes, my insurance does cover it. Thank god it covers something! How are you doing? I am glad to have this done- but I'm really nervous that something might be found. My doctor is focusing on the right sided nagging pain I get at ovulation (even if I o on the left side) and before my period starts. I've been complaining about that for 2 yrs now- he never seemed too concerned but now all of a sudden ysterday he kept asking me q's about it. Nothing shows up on ultrasound- like a cyst or anything but who knows- maybe there is one. Thanks for staying connected to this board! I'll keep ya posted. I hope you are doing ok- keep me posted on your end.

Hi everyone... I just got my prolactin levels rechecked yesterday after my dosage of Bromocriptine was increased from 2.5 to 5 mg. In four weeks it went from 21.9 to 12.7. Of course that is after taking only one dose of Bromo for 6 weeks. Needless to say it is taking a while, but hopefully now that my levels are down to a more normal range... I can start a period.... RE says it could take 2-3 months of having "normal" levels for menses to occur.... so... more waiting. I do want to share with everyone... I requested the results of all my hormone levels and compared mine to a list of "normal female hormone levels." This helped ALOT... It may add more worry to your plate, but... I'm just the kind of person that wants to know... that way I KNOW they have done and continue to do what they should. Just a little food for thought... It actually made me feel better to compare my levels to the norm.

bciervo, I'm hanging in there. I'm going to the re on Friday to see the nurse practioner. I guess they will just to an exam and all that fun stuff. Yeah right!! So I'm in the beginning stage of testing. I think I will go ahead with the sperm, saline ultrasound and hsg. I will wait for the results and see what the re has to say. I'm curious, is insurance covering the lap even though it for fertility or is you dr saying it's for something else? I too get pain but only on my left side. It's usually around o and then a week later. All of this is so confusing and frustrating. Part of me just wants to do the lap to see what's going on inside! I will continue to check in on this board. I want to know how everything works out for all of you too.

I just found out I'm pregnant.... and,.... I"m scared. I guess I'm just shocked. I want each of you to know that I truly, truly believe this will all work out for ALL of us. I know your sadness and worry and anxiety....I still have a lot of my own... But, you just have to keep trying and move on to trying the "next" treatment... and never give up. I think of all of you and pray for your unborn children... what wonderful mothers you will each be. I will keep you posted... Brooke and Biciervo...let me know what is happening. Take care and PLEASE BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!
