My Dr called out of the blue this morning. She said she was looking over my hubbys semen analysis and that it was much worse than the last one. She basically went on to let me know there is a very small chance that this IUI will work and that she wants us to consider going on to IVF sooner rather than later. I told her we can't afford IVF and that we will continue to do IUI's for now.
It's weird..nothing has really changed, I knew that his count was super low for the IUI (1.3mil) when we did it, but this has really bummed me out. I know that God is in complete control so it doesn't matter what the Dr says... but it's just harder to focus on that today. My mom called me with this scripture she read today so I thought I'd share it.
Romans 8:31,32
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
Good luck to everyone!

GraceL Have you guys tried to find natural ways to increase sperm count]?? There are a lot of foods that will help to increase sperm, for one my friend used to always eat oatmeal and take different vitamins and he said it made a big difference...here's a article i found, you might look around too to find different options, don't give up...at least he still produces sperm so there's hope there.
Include in your daily menu foods that increase sperm count.
Oysters are long valued as food that is rich in zinc and known to increase sperm and testosterone production. Bananas, Avocado and nuts can also help in this matter. Foods that contain lycopene (for example tomatoes) are also considered to increase sperm count.
Take the right vitamins for sperm count increase.
Certain vitamins are essential for male fertility and their deficiency may lower sperm count and quality. For example, Vitamins C and E are very important for healthy sperm production.
Adjust your timing between ejaculations and the frequency of sex.
It is advised to maintain a three day gap between ejaculations if you have a documented sperm count issue. Additionally, sperm count is considered to be highest in the morning. Therefore, if you want to conceive consider having sex in morning to afternoon hours.
Do as much research as you can ....

Get that fish oil in your diets girls!!
Nutrition During Pregnancy Must Include Fish Oil
The DHA and EPA found in omega 3 fish plays such a vital role in a pregnant woman's health and her baby's development that many scientists recommend at least 900 mgs of fish oil a day during pregnancy. That's equivalent to a daily serving of salmon.
The benefits for baby are:
A better brain with higher intelligence
Good nervous system development
Better eyesight from retina formation
Fewer behavioral problems after birth
Better sleep patterns for a new born
Health benefits for mom include:
Less chance of developing pre clampsia
Protection against brain loss during pregnancy
Less chance of pre-term labor and cesarean
Much lower risk of postpartum depression
Greatly reduced incidence of breast cancer
DHA and EPA make up about 70% of a newborn baby’s brain, retina and nervous system. The only way a fetus can get these important omega 3 fatty acids is from mom. And the amount is dependent on how much she's getting in her pregnancy diet.

BFN. So yeah.... I got AF on friday morning. It has been an incredibly painful cycle but I figure it's from the extra hormones I had and the extra follicles/eggs. I now have to wait for two cycles because my hubby will be in Germany with work for two weeks right when we'd be doing the IUI. Good luck to you who should be hearing soon!

Hi GraceL,
Sorry to hear that the dreaded AF showed up! That sucks!
Has your dh tried vitamins to increase his count? My dh has borderline normal count and morphology but our dr wanted him to take these special vitamins and says that it's easier to fix the man than it is the woman. He's been taking Male Fertility Supplement for the last 3 months. Basically he has to take 2 pills in the morning with breakfast and 2 pills at night with dinner. The first time we did IUIs in May his count was 36mil washed the first day and 18mil washed the second day. This time around it was lower but still very good. It was 18mil the first day and 7 mil the second day.
I would really have him try the vitamins and talk to your dr about anything else that he can do to increase the count.
morenas1, how are you holding up in your 2ww? You test in 2 days along with me!!! I can't wait anymore, I so badly want to test at home on my own, but I promised dh that I would wait until going to the clinic on Friday.
whitney412, how is your 2ww going? Have you decided on when you will test?
Hopefully the 3 of us will get great news this weekend!

GraceL I am so sorry to hear that..do your research as long as he still producing sperm the count can be increase with vitamins and a good diet rich in zinc and vitamin C...the donor sper I used was only 12 mil and 13mil which the nurse said it's pretty good for a donor sperm after wash, don't get discouraged, it will happen.
chorona, I am trying not to think about it, do you have any symptoms??? I have had a few different things happening to me this cycle that I didn't feel before, but then again, it could be part of the side effects from the crinone. some of them are runny nose as if I am getting a cold, that started on 7DPO, some diarrhea (I know TMI lol) my bb's hurt so bad in the past 2 days I couldn't even sleep on my side, lots of cm, and some cramping, like af is coming.
I don't know what to think but trying to stay positive...I am afraid of doing a hpt and get the dreaded bfn, trying to hold up till friday.

morenas1, I haven't really felt any symptoms that are giving me any indication of af or pregnancy. The first week and a half I didn't feel anything. In the last few days I've had some slight lower back pain and at times weird sensations in the area of my ovaries. I have no clue what to make of it. If I'm not pregnant then I won't get af until I get off the crinone, which is the same case for you.
When I had my chemical pregnancy back in May I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms either and I was pregnant. As difficult as it is, I try not to read too much into "symptoms" just because I don't want to get my hopes up and then be disappointed.
We'll both find out tomorrow if we're pregnant and God willing we'll both be blessed with babies in April!!! :-)

Ok, I have to confess...I broke down and tested last night, I got a very faint line on a cheapie test from the discount store, so I went today and got another box of first response and as soon as I pee'd on it I got double lines..so I guess that means I am pregnant...I am so happy...but cautious until I get my blood test tomorrow...hope you girls get the same...april babies for all of us :)
Good luck and lots of sticky baby dust !!!

morenas1 CONGRATUALTIONS!!! that's awesome! After reading your post I convinced DH to let me do an hpt (he would rather blood work for accuracy). I told him it was only one day so it wouldn't make a difference either way. Well, I got a BFN!!! I'm so sad, upset, and depressed! I went in this morning to do the beta test at my clinic, and they will call me later with the results. I cried so much last night just thinking about how painful my iuis were this time around and at the thought of doing them again. I asked dh if he would consider monitoring plus timed intercourse rather than the iui and he said he'd rather do the iuis and then intercourse on the day of the second iui.
I'm so friggin' upset. I was really hoping it would work this time, especially after it worked the last time (even though I lost it).
So I guess it's back to sqaure one. Going to do Letrozole again and back to back iuis. If this doesn't work then we're on to injectables. If that doesn't work then we need to talk about IVF. In a way I would rather just jump to IVF right now and be done with the emotional drain this is causing me.

chorona, I'm so sorry hun, I was so sure we would be going thru the 9 months together...I am hoping mine sticks, praying to god it does, I have been trying for over a year and I know all the pain, I went thru all of those painful tests and surgeries but don't just give up...I did some things different this time around and I will tell you all about it, I started by taking the supplement Inositol to help with my PCOS, then read about raw apple cider vinegar and all the benefits for infertility so I was preparing my self 2 16oz bottles with 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar in it a day, also I took a chance and disobey the orders of my RE by giving my self the trigger shot earlier than what she told me, calculating that my IUI was going to be 30/34 hrs after the trigger shot..(been reading a lot about the time it takes for the eggs to be released) and then lastly what I did after the IUI used one of those vaginal cups called instead...placed some natural lubricant called pre-seed (people swear by it) and placed it inside my vagina to keep the sperm from falling out (dr said it doesn't but I read sometimes it does) ah...and almost forgot I also used the robitussin expectorant to help the quality of cervical mucus...if you use it, use the regular, or buy the pills (Mucinex) they only contain the ingredient Guaiffesin or something like that...I was doing everything I could find that would help me out and I guess it worked :)
You should really try it...also my prenatal vitamins, I have been on them for a few months and fish oil too. Don't give up, I never did...I am 39 and all the odds were against me and it finally happened...and I know you are and GraceL are next, I will be praying for all, but do research all the things I told you, I truly believe they did helped me...
God bless you and all the other ones trying...I will pray for my little bean to stick...I took another digital test and it was also positive, just came back from the lab and waiting for the confirmation from the Dr.

It was confirmed, BFN!!
Oh well, we're on to the 3rd try.
At least this time it's going to be quicker to start another cycle. I'm off of the progesterone now, so AF should be coming in the next few days and then I can start Letrozole again.
morenas1, I hope you have a sticky bean as well. Keep us posted when you hear back from your clinic. Thanks for all of the info. To be honest, I'm not sure if I will try it simply because it will drive me insane to have so much going on. Trust me when I tell you that I already obssess over this, if I were to have to do anything other than just the meds and eating healthy, I would have to be placed in an insane asylum!! LOL
GraceL, I just thought of something. Why not have your dh leave a sample before he goes away? That way you can do an iui quicker rather than waiting 2 months. Just a suggestion.
Anyway, I'm feeling a little better now. I'm all cried out and have accepted the results. It's not the end of the world, just have to keep trying.

Got the call from dr...positive with 182 hcg at 13pod, need to call my mom.
chorona..it is not bad, it didn't make me go insane, just made that a routine without even thinking about it.
Keep the faith and don't stop...it takes a while but at least you have the support of your husband, I did it all alone..the dr visits, the surgery, the sadness and I had to cry alone with no one to comfort me, in that matter, you are a very lucky woman.
Baby dust to all and god bless.

Just another update..my beta's today were 1088 and I don't need to do the one for friday, I have scheduled my ultrasound for monday and hoping to see a heartbeat :) (or two) as of now my only symptoms are sore bb's and craving very spicy food.
Hope you girls are next...I just relaxed and thought of positive things and not negative at all, took two days off work and laid down and relaxed after my IUI's and seemed to work.
Baby dust to all and I will be waiting to hear the good news from all of you.
