my husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for a year with no luck. i was wondering if my lack of a regular menstrual cycle might have anything to do with not having gotten pregnant yet

Yes, it probably does. You cannot get pregnant without a period. You may want to go and get something to start your (provera), also on day 21 they can do a progesterone level check to see if you are infact ovulating. If not there are other tests that need to be done to determine whats wrong...for example PCOS or Insulin Resistance etc. They can also put you on medication to help you ovulate.
