Kellyb I'm a Femara success story if that's any help. I did 2 unsuccessful rounds of clomid and got pg with my first cycle of Femara. My doctor said the results with Femara have been much better than with Clomid and that he is not going to use Clomid any longer unless someone has an issue with the cost of Femara (35.00 a month or so). I'm sorry about your sister some people are so insensitive especially if they haven't been through something like this. I know I couldn't understand people's "craziness" over wanting a baby until I walked in their shoes now NOTHING seems crazy about ttc. Best of luck keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP from you all.

Good morning everyone! I'm afraid its not such a great morning for me. My temp dropped 0.2 degrees and I started pre af spotting this morning. I've just got to try and look at the positive side. My mom and I are going on a big backpacking trip at the end of this month. At first I was kind of worried about what I would do if I was pg. Now, I don't have to worry about it, and just go and have a good time. Also, this weekend I've got a trip planned to do some caving with some friends, so now I don't have to worry about doing that either. The doc told me to keep taking the avandia and prenatals, but no clomid this month since dh will not be here. I'm sad, but I'm starting to feel better. I may even go try to find another doc that prescribes Femara. Do they give that to you as a shot every day, or can they give it to you in pill form?

Hey Beth, I will definitely talk to my Dr at the end of this month. I'm sorry KellyN about your unwanted visitor. Mine should be coming on Sunday and I really think she'll visit. I don't feel like this is my month. I believe the Femara comes in a pill form, or so I've heard. I already pay $26.00 a month for clomid, what's another $10.00?? Well, have a good day everyone and I'll catch up later. Kellyb

KellyN sorry about AF coming for the visit. It sounds like you have a lot of great things coming up though that will keep you busy with DH gone this month. Femara is a pill it's 2.5mg and you take it for 5 days (like Clomid). I took it days 5-9 but I've heard of some people taking it days 3-7.
Kellyb keep us posted we're hoping for no AF for you!

Hi Everyone my name is Louise and I am in England I have been reading your messages hope you don't mind me joining in. I was diagnosed with PCOS in July have been trying to become pregnant since June 2004 was put on Metformin to regulate my hormone levels as I am insulin resistant and have twice as much testosterone as I should have. Starting taking Metformin on July 7th 2005 have been waiting to have a period all this time and also waiting to have a scan but was told that as it's a routine referral from a doctor i may have to wait up to 17 weeks which was very annoying. I came off the pill in June 2004 and my last period was in March 2005 and before that it was in December 2004. Do you think this is a long time to wait for a scan? I would be grateful if i could talk to someone else in my position as it's quite upsetting.

Welcome Louise! What kind of scan are you going to get? 17 weeks sounds like WAY too long to wait for anything for me. Heck, you could have three or four cycles in that amount of time! So sorry about your PCOS. You have come to the right place, though. This is my favorite forum thread that I participate on. Everyone here is positive, comes up with good ideas, and knows what you are going through. Well, for me, I am feeling much better this evening. Kind of looking forward to taking the month off of the meds. Doc says I still have to take the avandia and prenatals. This will help better prepare for the following month. Next month we are going to do the IUI again. I just found out that I should not have gotten the generic clomid. Apparently, many doctors are specifying the brand names. Now that I think about it, my doc specified that I take serophene (same as clomid, but different brand name), but when the pharmacist told me they were the same except one was cheaper, I believed her. I won't make that mistake again! Kellyb, good luck this weekend, girl!! I am pulling for you!!! Kellie, let us know how your relaxing cycle went. Sounds like even if af comes, this cycle was much more pleasant, and you got in some good happy quality time with dh before he leaves. When is he leaving? My dh happens to be working in north LA, and is staying in a hotel with several folks from N.O. The Red Cross comes by daily to give them food, and FEMA is paying for their hotel for 2 weeks. There are several families there that lost everything. The hotel is even letting the families keep their dogs in the no-dog hotel, so that was nice to hear. Good luck to your dh out there! Beth, when is your next appointment? What's the next step in your pg?? Gosh, are you about 8 weeks now! How wonderful!! You are mostly through the first trimester!!!!

Hi KellyN I was told the scan is to look at my ovaries to see what is going on - where you are it seems that all your doctors get a hell of a lot more done in a short space of time - considering i have been on Metformin since July do you think i should have had a period by now? I am overweight though but have lost 1st 5lbs so far and i am pleased with that as i have only lost half a stone before and the doctor said losing weight is far better than any medication they can prescribe. I am 24 yrs old and my husband is 32 yrs old we have been married for 3 years. I went back to the doctors on 23rd August and my doctor who diagnosed pcos has left and i saw another one and i didnt really like her do you think i said try and find out if an appointment has made yet. I wish all of you luck in your journeys to become mothers and i wish you luck Beth with your impending motherhood.Love Louise.

Well, I broke the news of af coming to dh last night. He was a bit upset and got a little teary eyed. He is going to talk to his boss about the possibility of him coming home for the two days this month so we can try the IUI again. I sure hope he can!!!

Hi & welcome Louise. KellyN- I hope they let your Husband come home for you! I can't imagine what it must be like for your DH to be gone soo long. My DH is a carpenter, only local. You've got to feel good about what he is doing there, I feel so sorry for all of those people. It makes you realize to not take anything for granted. I've been stocking up on canned goods for donations. Well, I was cramping for a few minutes last night and BB's are still sore. I've been very moody too (damn PMS!!). I took a nap yesterday so I could watch the O.C. I love that show. I'll talk to you later

Louise great to have you join us. I can't believe that it takes 17 weeks to get an ultrasound of your ovaries in England. WOW! I was diagnosed with PCOS in March and started my first cycle of fertility treatment in April. My doctor has an ultrasound machine right in the office so no additional appointment needed. But I think things in the US sometime tend to be quicker because of our insurance structures (possibly the one benefit of non socalized medicine). I live very close to Canada and they have a lot of the same problems with routine procedures there are a few women at my group that travel from Canada for treatment because it's a lot faster here.
KellyN you're DH is so great to try and get his boss to let him come home for a cycle this month! I hope that works out for you. How crazy that both you and Kellie's husband would both end up in LA, doing different things but how strange.
Kellyb any sign of AF yet? I'm still feeling pretty good the morning sickness has gone away now that I've figured out what I can and can't eat! I'm starting to gain weight and will have to go out this weekend for some new pants. On Wednesday I got ready for work and everything fit fine by the end of the night on about my 1000th trip to the restroom I couldn't rebutton my pants! I tried and tried and it was like I blew up! Then by morning they fit fine again it's so strange but I'm loving every minute of it.
I know you all will be experiencing this soon!

Hi Beth, well I believe the sore BB's are a sign as well as the on/off cramping. She'll probably visit this weekend although I wish she wouldn't. I told my DH about you guys and how it's nice to talk to people who understand what we're going through. He thinks it really nice. They have sooo many adorable outfits at Motherhood Maternity. I bet you can't wait to shop for those kinds of clothes. Talk to you later.

Hi everyone! Louise, did your doc put you on a projesterone supplement to help start af? I know that's what many women with PCOS have to do to get the ball rolling again. I did have af regularly when I learned of my pcos, so did not need to start out that way, but the doc does put me on progesterone every month after ovulation day through the end of my cycle. Well, I'm confused ladies! I was expecting af today, like it was last month. I got a little spotting for the past couple of days, and my temps went down to (not below) my coverline, so I'm really confused. TMI warning - at first the spotting was brown and creamy, then yesterday it was kind of pink, but not af red regular flow. I guess I'll give it to the rest of today and take another hpt tomorrow morning. I have not tested the last two days because I really though af was here! Does anyone know if when your temps go down to your coverline if that is too low?

Hi ladies. How were your weekends? Mine was good and relaxing. I haven't seen AF yet, so we'll see. I wonder if the HSG test could delay your period. My Husband doesn't want me to test until I'm a week late! I really don't think I could wait that long. I hope you get good news KellyN and Kellie too! Talk to you later.
