what exactly does your temperature mean???

I have been taking my temperature since my last menstral and only 3days ago did it start to elevate? Does this mean I am ovulating or that I already ovulated?

Do you mean since your last period started or since your last menstrual cycle? If you have gone a whole cycle without a drop in temp followed by an increase then this means you probably didn't ovulate. Once you reach your peak temp this means you have already ovulated. BBT are best used to show that ovulation has occured.
