I had my regular cycle back after 7 mths of my 1st baby and have been trying so hard to get 2nd for about 8 mths. I was given clomid for 3 cycles (due to my ages 38) but not seccess. I had done HSG middle of June and the result shown left tube clear and right tube cannot be seen. It may be blocked????The liquid cannot be retained in cervix due to patulous cervix and the uterus is underfilled. Suppose to go for laprascopy but I feel to give me some time before I go. Most of the gyno I see tell me one thing that is due to my age, my egg is "old", thus my chances are low...... . My AF came on 5 of July, meaning I did not conceive in the month after HSG. I am really stress about this. I just need someone who can listen and share my feeling....

I had a laparoscopy done June 21st - It was really not bad at all. I was afraid of large incision marks and pain, but four days after it I was good as new. I too had been hoping this month was it (1st one after my HSG) but a/f just woke me up. What a great start to the day, huh? Hang in there girls- we'll get it sooner or later!

I had an HSG yesterday, tubes are clear! The procedure itself was easy. I only felt a bit of pressure, silmilar to a pap smear for me. The doctor said the next 3 months there may be an increase in fertilty. Good luck to all!!!

Well I had mine on 6/10 and ended up not pg afterwards. But boy, did I have a bizarre period! I never cramp until after I start, and then only for a day. But after the HSG, I had cramping for a week before and even 4 days into it! Then it would stop and start. I was sooo miserable. Has any one else experienced strange behavior after HSG? I was hoping I was pg since my cramps came a week early, thought it was implantation. Oh well. Maybe next month.

Brenda...I had the same cramping after the HSG. I thought that I was pregnant as well, but no luck. My husband and I start IVF this month.

Hi Girls,
Does anyone know if it's better to do the HSG test on day 7 or 10 after your period? Is it better to do it closer to O?
Thank you

Well girls ~ I hope that the weird cycle ended when my period finally happened. Does anyone know how the month following the HSG will be? I am due to ovulate in a few days and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will not have another cycle like last month! I think that was the worst ever, and I am 31! LisaD ~ How long after your HSG did you wait till you started IVF? I will try to fight this tooth and nail! What was your diagnosis? We are "unexplained" at the moment. I don't believe in that. I am not sure how far we will take this until we start adoption. How does IVF really work, and have you tried any other paths? Thanks for any input!

Hi everyone !! First of all I have to say, I am sooo happy that that I found this forum. I am having an HSG July 12th(tomorrow) and I was so apprehensive about it. I decided to check out the internet and thank the Lord that I did !! I have been TTC for a year and a half and my doctor suggested that I have the HSG done and told me that it increases fertility for a few months after. I really had no clue how many success stories there were after the HSG until I read your stories. I have a 4 year old daughter who is begging me everyday for a baby brother or sister. She says, " Why doesn't God want me to have a baby brother or sister right now?" It is SOO hard. I had no problem with conceiving her, but in 2004, I had PID (which they do not know what it came from )and ended up in the hospital with peritonitis - my gyn told me I was lucky to be alive. SCARY - so I am figuring that I must have scar tissue, blockage, etc. Anyway, I am having the HSG tomorrow and I am figuring that the pain can't be even close to the pain I had with the PID, so I am just keeping in my head all of your great success stories - I actually feel excited about it instead of apprehensive. I just told my DH about it and he is excited too !!! THANK YOU and GOD BLESS you ALL !!

Nona...As far as I know, it is perfectly safe to conceive AFTER the HSG...just not to get preggo before. X-Rays are fine before conception. Good luck!

Well I had the HSG today and aside from waiting two hours (my Dr got hung up in the OR) it really wasn't that bad. I took 3, 200mg Motrin before I went and I have to admit that it was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. It was like a very bad menstrual cramp. The tech kept talking to me to get my mind off of it which helped. There was spillage so my tubes are open. Yea ! My Dr reminded me that the HSG increases fertility, so here we go. I'll keep you updated !! Thanks for listening !! May God bless you all with the baby you are praying for !!

I had a HSG in 3/2003 because I had an ectopic pregnancy 4 months prior. We didn't have any luck TTC that month... I think something must have been off with my body, because I bled for 1.5 months with the ectopic pregnancy (sorry if TMI) . I became pregnant in 9/2003 and gave birth to healthy twins in 5/2004. We have been TTC since shortly after their birth, and I had two very early miscarriages in 4/2005 and 5/2005. Now, I'm going for another HSG next cycle (they just said it will be post-AF, Pre-O). I'll be on clomid, and they will do an ultrasound on cd12 and give me novarel. Hopefully, the combination of all those elements will increase our chances. We TTC'ed for 18 months the first time, and now we're at 13 months this time.

I just thought I should add my experience from my last HSG... I didn't think it was very painful, but just like AF cramping. The problem was that I bled very heavily right after the test, which I did not expect at all. It was scary, but I was fine!
