in answer to Cheri (March 5) the ovulation kits are great to check you are ovulating - especially when your cycles are so irregular. I got a box of 50 for about 20pounds on the internet (they are 15pounds for 5 in the shops). They are really easy - dip them in a bit of wee and one line means no ovulation and two lines mean you are ovulation so you'd better 'get to it'! x x x

Question:
I have been on metformin for 3 months now with two regular cycles coming on day 35-37. My last period was on February 1, 2006, and still no period. I took a test and it was negative could it be wrong?

cheri - March 13

SHISLOO1, I am in the same boat my last period was February 20th and my tests come up negative, if u have a cyst it may alter the results but im not sure.I would def make sure cuz u can be preg

Celine - March 13

Thanks Cherri for your answer, and dont worry concerning the mistake... what is new with you ? I got my oeriod 2 days ago , so no pregnancy .....

Cheri - March 14

Im sorry u started uh I hate when your hoping your pregnant then you start! but at least you will be ovulating. Well I had a question its kinda wierd for me but how much do u try a week? I hear you are increasing chances by 3x a week and more but not sure well let me know. Good luck dont give up, im sure it will happen when you really LEAST expect it.

My daughter who is 20 yrs old was Dx with PCOD about a year ago. The dr at that time put her on birth control pills with out trying to treat the problem. My question is now a different dr. has her on metformin but she still is not having her cycles. The dr wants to put her back on birth control. Will taking the two different meds. cancel each other out.

Cheri - March 18

Angela, is your daughter trying to get pregnant? if so then birth control wont help of course, but mtformin hasnt gave me my cycles either so I may get put back on this med to make my periods regualte called Medroxper (provera)

angelabbott - March 19

No Cheri she is still in college. But she would like to have children in the next year or so. But since she is not having her periods she does not know when she is ovulating. Does metifornim still help you ovulate if you don't have your period?

I have been on metaformins 14 months, and started clomids 6 months ago and have had to novarel shot( same as the profasi shots) and no pregancy yet, according to my DR. it can take up to 3 years, yeah like that is easy to wait I would say try a specialist, that is what i am am getign ready to do. YES, METAFORMINS are used in fertilty cause if your DHEA hormones are out of wack the metaformins will help with your hormones to regulate them therefore helping the ovaries to work better and so forth look it up>>>

Hubby and I have been tryingto concieve about 7 years now, no luck first 4 years so went to DR. not luck yet, The clomids I take cause nausea vmiting sometimes, tiredness alot, as do the metaformins, I am also on the generic Profasi ( Novarel) which can cause same side effects. Be patient I have heard alot of women get pregant on these meds but sometimes after a certain point it is time to just go furth into a specialist and skip the smaller DR.'s. It is alot of heart breaking feelings and time to just sit and trust in the meds and sometimes best to go to specialist many women after years of the meds and such wen tto a specialist and found out there tubes where blocked and IVF was their only option. Will get back with you all after my next appoint this month coming. God Bless you all I pray fro you all to have a child in your lives. if you have anythign else I may be able to share with you please ask away.

Hi every one, hope you are all well. The last few postings all seem to be about ovulation and cycles. I was having cycles evey 35 - 45 days before being put on Metformin. I was told that the Metformin would help regulate a cycle so periods and ovulation will be regular. I must say that they have shortened my monthly cycle but I am still none the wiser at when I ovulate. Last month (using ovulation detector sticks) I ovulated on day 14 then again on day 19!!! Weird or what?!!! I am feeling a little disheartened about Metformin at the moment, I see the gynea again in May and am hoping she puts me on chlomid. A few of my hubby's freinds' wives have got pregnant on Chlomid fairly quickly. I don't know anyone around here that is on Metformin. My mums' freind has given me the name of a Dr. who runs a center which specialises in girls with PCOS. Maybe they will shed more light. Good luck everyone. I wish you well. x x x
PS. Where in the world are you all? I am in Yarm, North of England (Brrr!)
