Rhonda-

I am veryhappy to hear your success story. I want to try to stay positive and your story was very reassuring. I was you a wonderful pregnancy and am happy for you even though I don't know you. I am already feeling better onthe Dostinex than I did on Bromo.

Amber: My endocrinologist told me that if my prolactin level was over 300 during pregnancy then I would have to go back on my meds. I am not very thrilled about taking meds during pregnancy. When I had my first baby I did everything by the book. I think if the prolactin level gets too high during
pregnancy you are at increased risk for miscarraige. I have a prolactinoma and my endo said that if the size of the tumor increases too much during pregnancy, it could press down on the optic nerves effecting the vision. That is all I know for now. I am waiting for my OB to get back from vacation so I can ask him 100 questions. I breastfed my daughter and really enjoyed the experience. My Endo and OB told me that I cannot breastfeed again. Don't be disappointed because breastfeeding isn't as easy as it looks! You can still bond with your baby and your husband will be able to experience feedings too! The only experience my husband got was waking me up to tell me the baby was hungry!!!

I'm still trying to tuff it out with the Bromo but had a few questons for everyone. While you have been on the meds are you also on birth control? I was put on birth control to regulate my periods (i stopped having one after the birth of my son almost a year), which it has but from what I've been reading it seems like either the Bromo or Dostinex are being to regulate periods. I just wonder if i should only be the bromo to see if my periods would be normal? Also, how long after meds do levels start returning to normal? I am only taking one bromo at night, i wonder if that will get my levels back.Good luck to everyone who is ttc..

Hi Nicky, I was never on birth control so I am not too sure about that. But I do know that when I was on Bromo my periods were not regular...at one point it was 51 day before I had a period. But after being on Dostinex for 2 weeks, I began having regular 28 day cycles and have for the past 3 months now. About a month after being on Dostinex my prolactin levels were in the normal range..I believe the doctor said it was 9 - I am not sure what they were prior though. I hate to preach about how good it is but after being so messed up for so long and now finally having this the way they should be, I am happy!! :))

My periods have been erratic for a few months and my GYN discovered that I had high prolactin (70) in May. He sent me to an endocronologist and they discovered that I have hypothyroid, which causes elevated prolactin. After one month on my synthyroid (thyroid medication) my prolactin went down to 17. So, make sure to have your thyroid checked. Maybe you won't need any prolactin medications.

I think I have had every hormone test known to mankind!! hehehe I have been poked with needles, hooked up to IV's...you name it I've done it. But it is reassuring that the doctors are checking everything!! :))

Hey Rachael, Nicky...other ladies...any luck this month?? I am due for AF on August 8..but I really don't think it happened this time around...I don't feel any different. What about you guys? Any symptoms??

Amber - nothing yet -- although I did ovulate on CD 15 - which was a first for me -- and most likely due to the Dostinex ... not sure I timed the sex accordingly though --- I'm waiting toooo... good luck

Amber - August 1

I bought ovulation sticks...and tested for O on days 12-16 and it never did show a peak so I am not sure if I ovulated or if I ovulated after day 16....we kept 'trying' so hopefully it worked but I have the feeling it's going to be a big fat NO again! A psychic friend says September!! hehe So let's see if she's right!! I am still having fun trying and am not to the frustrated stage yet so all is well! :))

I'm holding off until my levels go down and go to my next appt in Oct. I am just hoping everything comes back normal so I can try. amber, don't get discouraged, just keep trying!

Hi girls
I stumbled across this site while trying to research info on "normal" prolactin levels. Wow, so glad I did, I have hyperprolactinemia and havn't been able to find much support due to not many people knowing what it is!! I don't feel so alone now :-) I was diagnosed last year (March 2004) with a microadenoma and prolactin level was 47.3 at the time. Endocrinologist said I didn't need meds but probably would if I wanted to conceive. DH and I have been trying now since jan 2005 and I've just received by test results. They took 2 samples 1 hour apart, first one came back at 141 the second at 173 !!! I have a follow up appointment next tuesday to see what meds to go on. After reading your comments on here I think I will ask for Dostinex, I was told I will also have to take Clomid.
I havn't had AF since April :-(

Amber - August 2

Hi Krystyna.....there are plently of women in the same boat as you...including myself! You will find that this is a great place to come and ask questions and get lots of support. It's great!! :)) Good luck to you!

Hi Amber,
I just wanted to mention that my friend is also ttc and she always assumed that she ovulated on days 14-15 so she only tested for ovulation on for that week. However the test kept coming back negative so last cycle she kept testing and found that she had a possitive result on days 21-22 (i think?!). So perhaps you should continue testing, maybe you are ovulating later? Good luck anyway, maybe it happend this time round ;-)

HI, All I just wanted to share some good news I went to the doctor as you know on Friday the 29th of July and she said that my levels were down and she was WELL PLEASED!! She also said that I needed to be on the pill or something because she is sure that I would get pregnant. I had to remind her that that is what "I WANT" to get pregnant. she forgets. I tried to time last month JULY but not sure if it worked I will get a test next week because my cycle should be on the 15th
