Stacey1225: Welcome back! I had my first IUI last month with Femara days 3-7 and it was unsuccessful. This cycle I am on Femara days 3-7, Follistim 75 iu and HCG. I triggered last night and tomorrow will be my IUI so I will be your cycle buddy even though I am a little ahead of you. Hopefully I will get a BFP this cycle to give you some inspiration.
Hopeful Marz: Welcome! I just had my first IUI last month and will have my second one tomorrow. The IUI is so easy! I told my husband that I would rather do it this way than the old fashion way because it's less stressful trying to time everything ;) At my Dr's office they monitor me with bloodwork and ultrasounds around cd 10-12. From there they can tell me when to trigger and come back for the IUI. The morning of the IUI my husband goes in and leaves his sample (which he said wasn't nearly as embarrassing as he thought it would be). I come in a few hours later with a full bladder and they inseminate. It feels like a pap smear and it super fast. Afterwards, I lay on the table for about 15 min and then go about my day. Easy Peasy!

I actually didn't have to have a letter of rec from my GP. I just called the RE and had my information from my OB/GYN sent to them and I was able to have a consult in about 5 weeks. Once I had my consult, we started testing and treatment immediately.

Hi ladies, just checking in. The twins are doing great 20 wks this week. My advice is to be informed. Read as much as you can and ask your REs alot of questions. In the end i wish i had gone to my RE sooner. Sending baby dust to all of you, :)

Hey Erin3015! I am so glad things are going well for you. I just had my second IUI, this time with Follistim, three days ago. I had 2 good follicles and several small ones. I really hope this time is the charm! How many follicles did you have and did you use injectables? I will keep you all updated. This is going to be a long couple of weeks!!

Hi EHK,
I did use injectables and I was on follistim as well. I had four follicles but they were all different sizes. The two week wait is the worst! Take my advice get a project or something going to distract you. Also I took it easy the whole day after the Iui and even a bit the next day. Good luck!

Thanks Erin! Great advice. This has actually been perfect timing for me because I just switched jobs and have two weeks off in between so I will have plenty of down time. Keep us updated on the twins! Have you found out the sex yet?

Hi Erin, great to hear you are having good progess, hope the babies are both doing well!! You are half way there!!!!
Hi EHK, I send you loads of baby dust, hopefully this will be your time!!
I have no clue what follistim or injectables etc are - do they not just sterilise the sperm and insert it??
These q's prob sound really stupid and I am sorry!!
I tried researching it but not much info!!
Is their a higher risk on having multiple babies, can this hurt babies or anything??
Appreciatte all the info you can give!!

Hopeful: Thanks for the baby dust! I know it can be confusing and you do not sound stupid at all! There is so much to take in. Follistim is an injection that makes you produce more than one follicle. During a normal cycle, you only have one large follicle that ovulates. The injectables give you more follicles so that you ovulate more eggs, thus giving you more 'targets'. There is a higher risk of multiples so that is something to take into consideration. My RE does not like anything more than twins so if he thinks that I have too great of a chance of anything more then twins, he will cancel the cycle. As far as hurting the babies, the injection medication is completely out of your system by the time you get pregnant so there is no risk for the babies. Let me know if you have any more questions. I am happy to help!

No problem! I am in the U.S. Where are you? My situation is a little weird. We have been trying for about a year. The first month we tried we got pregnant but had a miscarriage (chemical pregnancy). We tried the next couple of months and nothing. My Dr went ahead and decided to do some bloodwork on me to make sure I was ovulating every month because my cycles were a little off sometimes. Some months would be 23 days and others would be 32 days. Well he found out that I only ovulate some months but most months I do not. He decided to put me on Clomid for the next month and I still didnt ovulate. The next month he put me on a higher dosage of Clomid and I got pregnant but we found out it was ectopic. After the ectopic I decided to go ahead and see an RE. He put me on Femara instead of Clomid and we tried that for a couple of months with timed intercourse but did not conceive. The next cycle we did IUI with Femara and got another BFN. So this month he decided to be more aggressive and he put me on injectables. Sorry so long. What is going on with you?

EHK,
Did your RE tell you, you might have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome)? Thats what I have, and I had the same problem as you Clomid wasn't working and they couldn't pinpoint when and if I was ovulating every month. I did follistim injections for a few days (seems like forever ago, lol) and got pregnant on the first cycle with IUI. If I can give you ladies any advice, enjoy this time (weird right) but just know it's going to happen. It's easier in my position to say that, but I remember too clearly feeling as though it would never happen for us. The month I got pregnant I said a prayer (lots of them) and said whats meant to be will be. I hope your keeping this faith, I will send thoughts and prayers, and baby dust to you!
Actually I find the sexes out tomorrow! I am super excited, my hubby and I are going out to dinner and open the envelopes we had the Tech make up for us. :) I will keep you posted....

Aw what a great idea to find out the sex! I know you must be so excited!! Please do keep us updated.
Do they confirm PCOS with a blood test? If so, it must have come up negative because they never said anything about it. And the clomid at the lowest dose didn't work but at the next level I had 3 follicles. That was the month that I got pregnant with ectopic. This month I responded really well though so hopefully this is the month. The advice about being relaxed is great. After a couple of loses and trying for a year, I have realized that I am not in control and that God does have a plan.
Can't wait to hear what the sexes are!!!

I am pretty excited, and pretty impressed I haven't opened the envelopes yet, lol. They confirmed it by an u/s which shows any or all cysts in the ovary's. When you had three did they get to a mature state? I ask because mine would grow then stop... everyone's is different I just thought that might be one reason you had the same reaction I did. I hear ya, it's easy to feel hopeless, but reading and research and talking to other women in my place helped a lot. I remember reading this forum and getting to inspired and excited hearing from moms who got pregnant. I will definitely let you guys know about the sexes, and I am sending prayers and positive vibes to you! Also I would say a prayer to St. Gerard, he is the patron saint of Mothers (sorry to be all religious, lol). :)

I'm impressed with you too!! The 3 I had did get to a mature state and I got pregnant that cycle with an ectopic. I have ultrasounds all the time so I must not have PCOS. They did however say that my egg reserve is low so that is why they are treating this aggressively. Thank you for the prayers!!

Hey EHK!
I sure hope this cycle is the one!!! how many units of follistim did u take daily? im taking 75 units! i finish shots tomorrow and go for u/s and labs sunday morning. the RE called me this week to tell me DH's sperm analysis showed 40 million sperm but only 3% had progressive motility and she said they like that number to be around 32%. his SA back in august showed 7% progessive motility and he is now on clomid and a motility support pill. so they are thinking he has a sperm antibody and his body is attacking his sperm, the treatment for this is IUI and they way they spin and wash the sperm before the IUI so im really anxious now considering i was expecting his numbers to be improved from the medication. The nurse said it only takes 1 but I know the reality of the fertility world. I am just praying that I will have some peace of mind and be calm and not worry about this, God does have a plan! Keep me up to date with any symtoms u are experiencing EHK!
Erin3015, cant wait to hear the sex of your babies! I am a NICU nurse so I would love to hear the progress of your babies!
Hopeful Marz, good luck to u and keep us posted of your RE visit!
