OK, I need help. I spot for about 4 days before I get my period, I then bleed heavily for about 3 days and then spot for 2 or so more. Which day do I count for the first day of my cycle? The day I start spotting or the day I start bleeding heavily. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I really don't know the answer. I had a miscarriage in March after 5 years of ttc and I am beginning to think that I may have a Luteal Phase Defect. Thanks.

Hi Holly, your first day of your cycle is the first day you see blood (so when you start spotting). That's a long cycle though 9 days?

I agree with Melissa. I had asked my dr the same question & she said... The first day you see blood is cd1. Good luck! *~*~*~*~*~

Thanks ladies. Charting will be much easier knowing exactly what the first day is. I know, 9 days is a long time. But, I don't want to go on the pill to get it on track. You know what I mean? thanks for your responses! Holly

Hi Holly. I am the same as you, spotting for almost 3 days before flow arrives but I understand from reading various sites that 1st day is day of actual bleeding, not spotting. I wonder which is correct.
