So sorry if I double-posted, first-timer and wanted to get this under the right forum topic... Need your advice and input on whether to IUI or timed intercourse. Just had cd12 u/s for my first 50mg clomid cycle, and have three follicles on right side at 15, 16 and 17. No LH surge detected so injecting hcg tomorrow. Dr. said it's our choice if we want to IUI and I can't decide. This is our first cycle with medical assistance after ttc for 18 months (Dr. is pretty sure I wasn't ovulating). Now my lining is "perfect" and hubby's SA is great. Nothing warrants IUI, but we want best chances for preg this cycle, and would actually love multiples. But don't want to bother with the hassle and $$$ for IUI if it makes no difference to improve chances. Is IUI more failsafe than timed intercourse? Anyone been through this and wish they had gone with IUI sooner?

it increases your chances minimally....3-5%....you only have a 15-20% chance of conception every month with iui after age 30...same with timed intercourse...the advantage of iui is that the sperm doesn't work as hard and bi-passes the vaginal canal & the cervix and it can be stronger at penetrating the egg....with iui the doc. puts the sperm right in the uterus .....why do iui if you can have fun with intercourse.....trust me....if I could do timed intercourse i would....i have no other way of getting preggo
