Pregnancy after HSG

I wanted to send a reassuring message to everyone who is signed up for this forum. I posted a question here sometime in Dec. 2009 before doing my HSG. We conceived about a week after doing the HSG (which I luckily did not find painful for more than 10 seconds, though I popped two extra-strength tylenol beforehand PLUS a Valium, upon a friend's suggestion and my doc's agreement, which was probably overkill but it did make the whole thing easier, I think). So HSGs do lead to women getting pregnant, in my case, during that very cycle! We had a healthy boy nine months later, Thank God, in Sept. 2010, and now he's a year old. I'm now pregnant again (no need for another HSG) and it happened naturally - which is an additionally great thing because I'm over 40. (Ladies, don't believe the hype...I have tons of friends getting pregnant after 38 without doing IVF! It's great that IVF exists, of course, but don't rush into it if you don't have to.) Anyway, I wish you all easy HSGs that lead to easy pregnancies and most important, healthy babies and happy mommies!

Leenie613, Thanks for for the reassuring message. I just had my HSG this morning. It was not as bad as I thought it would be but I also took Ibuprofen 800mg and xanax 0.5mg which made we relax. I was really nervous when they told me both tubes were blocked but the were able to push through more dye and unblocked them. The radiologist was very positive that must have been my problem. So hopefully this will be my month. Praying for a BFP..

Soon2bemommyof3, I will keep you in my prayer. Hope you get to feeling better and get you BFP next time..

Map, that's great news...hopefully the fact that they were able to unblock your tubes means that you will get pregnant soon. I have several friends who got pregnant thanks to doing this test. Good for you for doing it! Now rest, relax, pray...it will all come together!

I got my HSG about 5 months before I got pregnant with my little boy. I actually didn't have any blockages. I did get laid off after I had my HSG and 3 months after that I got my BFP! I was actually at Target picking up a 6 month Rx for Clomid and I decided to get a pregnancy test. It was positive. I just think my problem was I was too stressed in my personal life. I was a job that I hated because of some issues with one of the owners (he was verbally abusive and hostile). I had my son in July 2010 and I am due with my 2nd little on in March 2012.

Good luck ladies. I know that success stories happen, even though I never thought I would be one of them. Keep trying. And as much as possible, keep positive. I know it's hard!

Wishing you all BFP's in the near future!!

Leenie63, thanks a ton for the reassurance! Just what I needed before my trip! Btw I'm 30 and TTC for 6 mths. I started panicking when the OTKs showed negative and went to see a gynae. I guess its my age and my hubby's - he's 35; that's making me impatient.. My gynae seems to be blaming my tipped uterus for my difficulty in conceiving, as my hubby's sperm count turned out to be very good and I don't seem to have any other problems too..

Anyone else here has a tipped / inverted / retroverted uterus as well? Kindly share ur experience :)

Hello ladies I am so encouraged to keep trying from Lennie613 and Idntown's success stories. I think Omw trying too hard do maybe I should just let it happen n stop worrying so much, that could be hindering me as well. It's just so hard to do when, my children (ages 12 and 10) my husband n myself wants it really bad...

Hello Ladies. I have been keeping up with this thread even though my HSG was done over three years ago. I just wanted to give you all a positive story. I had to go through IVF to have my first child which is now 2 1/2 years old. :) And I just found out back in August that I am pregnant with my second by natural conception. The doctors told me that I would more than likely never concieve on my own and could not give me a reason as to why not, but low and behold I am now 12 weeks along. :) Also another thing against me is that I am 33. Dont give up hope!! I remember when I was going through all this everyone would tell me to relax and it will happen, I would get so mad and be like how in the world can I relax when this is something I want so badly. But I truly believe that it does help. My husband and I had decided to wait until next year to go through the IVF again if at all because of money and stress and I was pregnant the next month. It very well could have been a coincidence, but I really think once I relaxed I gave my body a chance to do what it was suppose to do. Baby dust to you all and stay positive!!!! Hope to hear good news from you all in the near future.

I had my HSG in January 2008 (no blockages) and conceived using Femera IUI in July of that year. My daughter is now 2.5. Then last February I discovered I was pregnant again, naturally (and we weren't even "trying", I was still breastfeeding my daughter and had erratic cycles). My son was born in September 2010 and just celebrated his first birthday. Don't give up hope!!

Hey ladies, as u know I had my HSG on the 23rd n which I was also ovulating, so my husband and I had intercourse. Today I am having spotting. Im not due for my cycle until the 10th of this month (5 days to go) so I'm not sure if its implantation bleeding or.an early menstrual. Fingers crossed.

Hi, I did my HSG last month, after that my BBT was very stable, only up a bit but no drops. Partner and I tried after a week after HSG, since i can't see BBT change so i give up trying at the second week. I was waiting for period come so we can start try again. Surprise i found out pregnant last week (5 weeks). And i am 40 yrs old. My partner and i are together for a year, and this is the first time try. So ladies do not give up.
