I have my HSG scheduled for Thursday 3/27. I already got my prescription for the antibiotics and plan on taking some Motrin before the procedure. I can't imagine it'll be worse than being in labor, so I'm not too worried. I also think we're going to keep trying on our own for a couple months afterwards in hopes of the procedure helping any potential minor blockages there may be in there (if there are any.) The RE thinks that if we want to get pregnant right away, I should do IUI with Clomid, but I'm not so sure about that just yet.

RLR- I have a few friends who had the HSG done and none of them said it hurt. They said it was no big deal. Go figure.

RLR- How was your procedure? You had it today, right?

I tried to get pregnant for six months with no luck. As a routine fertility work-up, I got an HSG on a Thursday. I was pregnant on Saturday. It works. I'm sitting next to my amazing little girl right now... I think HSGs are certainly worth a try before moving on to meds.

I am 33 years old and have been trying for a year to get pregnant it is so frustrating. Every month waiting to see if I am pregnant is torture my mind plays tricks on me I think I am having symptoms when in fact its all in my head. Its gotten so bad that I don't even talk to my husband about what I am feeling because its the same thing every month I think I am and then the pregnancy test comes back negative. I think my doctor thinks I am nuts I am in his office so much I am sure he thinks I am a wacko its so humiliating. Everyone keeps telling me it you stop trying and stop thinking about it it will happen I guess those people have never had trouble conceiving because thats all I think about I am obsessed with getting pregnant. I should take stock in EPT tests I buy them so much. I am so sick of everyones stories and how they know some who did something to get pregnant. I see my husband with our niece and he is so in love with her and it breaks my heart because I cant give him a child. Anyway I was just wondering if I am alone out there or are other people feeling the same way? Also I had the HSG on Monday and it appeared I had a blockage in one of my tubes so we will see how it goes this month. For those of you who are going to get the test its really not that bad I took 4 motrin and a half of xanex and I didn't feel a thing and no cramping after either.

I've been married for 3.5 years now. Had an ectopic on my left tube in Feb 07, and have been TTC without success. To trying4myfirst - I totally understand how you feel - it's extremely difficult how I had to politely response to those whom keep asking me to hurry up.
I had my HSG this afternoon, and it shows no blockage. Hooray! I really hope that the HSG helps to increase my chances in the next 1 week! Baby dust to all!

I am 26 and have been TTC for 3 and a half years. On Friday I went for an HSG and they had to reschedule the test because they weren't able to get the catherer through my cervix :-( This upsetted me a great deal because I thought this would be my chance to get pregnant. I am now going to my GYN tomorrow morning he is going to do something to my cervix and they are going to re-try the test again at 1pm. I am really hoping it works this time, esp. since I am ovulating starting tomorrow! Do you think it would be safe to have sex that night? I only want to because my cervix will be open and I have a higher chance, my next step would be IUI and I want to try naturally first. This site gave me some encouragement that I could possibly get pregnant although I fear the chance of a miscarriage. Any thoughts?

Hello all. I just wanted to say that i had my HSG on October 6th and my cycle came on the 28th. This month i made sure to get busy on the 10, 12,14, and 16 day of my cycle. Today i started spotting a really light pink (sorry to be graphic). The spotting only last about 4 hours and now is gone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe it was implantation spotting. My hubby and I have been TTC for almost a year now. I go tomorrow to get bloodwork done to check my prog levels. Keep your fingers crossed and i'll keep on updates. good luck to all of you

Margo, Don't give up. My husband and I were ttc for over 16 years. I got pregnant 5 times but each time resulted in a miscarrage. I had my HSG done on the 24 Oct 08 and just found out that we are expecting our first child. My first HSG showed very blocked tubes and not a very good chance of having children. I went to have this one done after the last which was 7 years ago and the tubes were clear. I guess the HSG really does help.

Thanks Udbe2! I promise not to give up and a big CONGRATULATIONS on the pregnancy. I'm no doctor but stay off your feet :) My cycle is supposed to start next week so my fingers are crossed to see if it doesn't or not. Keep us updated on everything Udbe2.

Margo I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to get a BFP. I go in today to have more blood work done to see if my HCG levels have doubled. Spent Monday in the ER with heavy bleeding and the RE thought I was going to miscarry. Haven't yet at least I hope not. I have a hard time getting past 4 weeks so I'm nervous as heck to know what my levels are now. They also put me on Progesterone Suppo and they are going to test my progesterone again to see if it has increased yet.

Hi ladies I have been trying to join this thread forever and it just now letting me open up and post. I am 40 and I have been ttcing for about 16 months and still nothing. I have done the clomid but for this cycle and last I have been med free. I had a HSG done on Nov 6 and the right tube is open and the left tube is starting to close. I am currently on cd 21 and I thought I was 5dpo but according to fertility friend I am 7dpo I started AF on Oct 31 and I got my first bfp on the opk test strip on cd 14 and I got bfp for the next 3 days not really sure what dpo I am. My cycles are normally 30 days so I should start AF on Nov 3 but fertility friend said I should get AF on Nov 29 and I can test on Nov 30. I will keep you all updated. I am starting to pass a lot of gas (sorry tmi), getting dizzy, feeling a little nausauted, tired I keep trying to fall asleep at my desk, lower back is kinda bothering me and my boobs are sore. I will keep you all updated. ***udbe2 - have you gotten your blood test back yet I am keeping my fingers cross that your numbers have doubled and the bleeding has stop. Krissy68

Krissy. Don't give up, as I have indicated I'm 36 so there is still a lot of hope. I'll keep my fingers crossed and some extra baby dust out for you. Has the doctor tested your progesterone levels close to AF? My other dr's didn't however I did find out that I do have a progesterone deficiency and that was keeping me from getting pregnant and staying pregnant. I did get my levels back. My progesterone was 3 Mon, 7 Wed so the dr put me on 100mg of prometrium 3xs a day. Bleeding stopped completely after 1 day of the higher progesterone. Had another BT today and the nurse just called me back. My HCG didn't double however increased drastically from the last time. Mon 74, Wed 79 today was 111. Yeah 32 points instead of 5. The dr said that was an improvement and acceptable. My progesterone is now at 33 which is wonderful. ***Margo*** Any news yet?

I will keep you updated my temp went up from yesterday 98.19 to 98.33. I am not going to test early I will wait it out. I am just so tired. I am so happy that the numbers have went up some are you going to have to do any more blood work or do you just have to wait until you have your u/s. Take care and have a very nice weekend. Krissy68
