Hello ladies, I have been reading your responses for the last few month. I had my HSG done this morning and it was very painful. My husband and I have been married for 4 years and I haven't been able to concieve as of yet. We have been through the other tests and everything turned out fin on his behalf and mines thusfar. We are Christians and my husband is a minister and we are believing by faith that after this , I will concieve. I believe there is hope after this because of the many reports that I have read from this website. I do have a little spotting happened but, nothing I can't handle anyway. This will be for a worthing cost in the end. I would love to read more positive responses after the HSG. My menstrual flow started a week ago today so I am ready to go to work after the spotting has stopped. I will update you on the reslts as they come. Blessing to all the ladies that are trying to concieve.

Hi, everyone! :) I started reading this forum to understand the HSG before going. I had it done on 1/31/08 and should have ovulated about 2-3 days later. The test was very uncomfortable for me, but the cramps for about 30 minutes afterwards were the worst part. It basically felt like the worst menstrual cramps I'd ever had. Anyway... bloodwork before HSG was normal, HSG was normal -- hopefully we'll be pregant after ttc for 18 mo.! :) It seems like everyone I know and everyone famous is pregnant... except me!!!

My husband and I have been trying to have our second baby for three years now. It was so easy the first time, I don't know why we haven't been able to conceive again. Well, today I went and the HSG test and everything came back fine. Because of all the success stories with this test, we are hoping for the best. I will let you know the outcome.
Oh, quick question, does anyone know how long you have to wait before you can have intercourse after the test?

Trini-Doc told me 48 hours, but took my ovulation sticks and i ovulated 11 days after my HSG....i will know in about 2 week if i am prego....good luck to everyone. HSG hurts and lots of bleeding afterwards, but well worth it, worked with both my kids, i will find out in 2 weeks if it has worked with my 3rd!!

I had my first HSG today. My dr. prescribed valium which probably helped. It was very painful as the doc inflated the balloon, but that only lasted for a few minutes. I've had no cramping and very little bleeding since then. So, really not bad at all. I've had two ectopic pregnancies in the last year so hopefully this will work!

emilyrene. I have had 2 ectopic pregancies along with a m/c and a blighted ovum, but anyways I was wondering if your ectopics were in your fallopians tubes? Ive had one in each tube so now im really scared I cant get pregnant without IVF... which is what my doctor is suggesting.

Hello ladies, I posted on Feb 4 that I had the HSG. I didn't concieve this month BUT, I am not giving up. I did start my menstrual cycle Jan. 30. For some odd reason, I didn't cramp this time around. I normal cramp to the point of medication, heating pad, praying, and that special touch from my hubby rubbing my tummy (if I don't snap his head off :)...I am not sure as to why I didn't cramp but, I won't complain because I could use the braek from that kind of pain. I am scheduled to see a fertility specialist on March 10. I am not sure what will take place. Can anyone give me some feed back on the NON CRAMPS and what could possibly take place at my dr. visit? Thanks

Hone - Yes, my ectopics were in my fallopian tubes. One was caught early enough. I was given methotrexate and I miscarried normally about a week later. Unfortunately the second one was not caught soon enough. I had emergency surgery and lost most of my right tube. But thankfully it didn't rupture. My HSG showed that my left tube is open and looks healthy so I'm praying that that will be enough. My doctor has also suggested IVF but we're going to keep trying before going down that road. I would be okay with that though. From what I've read, it sounds perfectly safe and healthy. Good luck to you!

Hi girls- I am scheduled to have my 1st HSG next Monday after a tubal ectopic in Nov/Dec. I was really looking forward to it since I hope it will shed some light on what's going on in there- blockages, etc. Now, I'm a little concerned about the pain since everyone says it's so terrible. I'm wondering if that's a product of people expecting it to be really painful or people expecting no pain and getting a surprise. I'm going to take a percocet beforehand. :)

DH and I have been ttc for 13 months. He has been checked and I had the HSG test in feb. I tried in feb after the hsg w/ a neg test and now we are trying fot march. The dr says if we are not preg. by may he will put me on clomid. I really want to get preg w/out clomid but it doesn't like this is going to happen. Has anyone gotten preg w/in the 3 month window. I have read alot of these but most say they lost the baby and I wouldn't know how to act if this happened after trying for so long. We are in our 30s and just worried this isn't going to happen. *** baby dust to all ttc ***

I have my HSG scheduled for Thursday 3/27. I already got my prescription for the antibiotics and plan on taking some Motrin before the procedure. I can't imagine it'll be worse than being in labor, so I'm not too worried. I also think we're going to keep trying on our own for a couple months afterwards in hopes of the procedure helping any potential minor blockages there may be in there (if there are any.) The RE thinks that if we want to get pregnant right away, I should do IUI with Clomid, but I'm not so sure about that just yet.
