Pregnancy after HSG

If anyone is scared, don't be. It's really not all that bad. What I suggest is to take something to calm you down, along with the ibuprophen. I took part of a xanax (.25) ( my husband takes it on occassion, thats why we had it) Because if you get sedated at the place all they give you in 10mg Valium. Any antidepressent or medication that calms you would work just the same I would think. Now I'm not a doctor so I'm not saying to just do this without asking someone. Also make sure that what you take to calm you down is ok to take with the test. I'm sure I would have been fine without it, but it really made my nerves not so bad.

I had my hsg today and it was not bad at all. I felt nothing. The only thing that I actually felt was the insertion of the speculum .. (it was a bit larger than the one my doctor uses and it was metal).. and that didn't hurt I was just nervous. I had no cramping and the doctor who performed the exam said my tubes are open. I get the full result of the test tomorrow. I did take aleeve right before the test ( I brought it with me along with a bottle of water) so I suggest doing that. Hopefully this will turn out good for me and I'll get pregnant! I've heard of so many women that have gotten pregnant after this test. Even my boss said that she got pregnant right after it! So I'm keeping my hopes up!

I tried to get pg for about a year, started going to infertility dr. First thing was the HSG. It totally had the drano effect on me. I was pregnant the next cycle. so far, so good, 9 weeks along tomorrow. as for the HSG itself, I forgot to take the suggested Motrin before the procedure and it hurt like crazy. I thought i was going to pass out. I did the whole hot and sweaty/cold and clammy...thing. one side was partially blocked but the dye must have cleaned it out. whoo hoo. I teach gymnastics and am not taking it easy enough and hope I don't miscarry. good luck to all of you.

Hey everyone, I just got odne my first HSG. I have to say that it was only slightly more uncomfortable than the pap smear. I only took 2 advil an hour before and 2 more advil half hour before the procedure. I was wiggin out from reading everyones posts and expecting it to hurt real bad. I was more afraid of not knowing how it was going to be than the actual procedure, which took only 5 minutes tops. It pinched a bit when he went to inject the dye, but it was more of the anticipation that anything. If you have not done it, do not worry. If you have a competent dr who does it all the time, it goes smoothly. The best part is...I HAVE CLEAR TUBES AND NO PROBLEMS.. WHOO HOOO!! Now I just have to get pregnant :)

Hi Everyone. I had an HSG last month and after almost a year an a half of trying we finally got our BFP this week!! The doctor said that I had a "plug" and that I just needed a "clean out". The HSG was very uncomfortable for me but well worth it in the end!!

PatiKate - October 31

PatiKate - how long before you got a BFP? What were your signs/symptoms? I had my HSG last week, and have been bding at least every other day since. I hope it works.

Littlenenita - November 3

Wow ladies, I feel some hope. I just had an HSG done in October and I O'd on the 30th. (My experience with getting the HSG done was a bad one--really hurt me....I almost cried!) So I am in the 2 WW now. Only 4 DPO so WAY too early yet to tell. Though I have had some odd pains in my lower abdomen the past 2 days that is not normal. But of course my mind races to see if maybe I will get a BFP right after having the HSG done!
