I had a HSG on May 16th day 9 of my period, tried conceiving the following week. I've been having back pain and cramping since May 22nd. I don't normally get cramps. Is this normal after a HSG or are these signs of early pregnancy?

my husband and i were ttc for 8 months when we found out i was pregnant with a tubal pregnancy. i lost my left tube just about 2 weeks ago. i'm thinking i should get this HSG test done to look at my other tube....although during my surgery my dr. said my right tube looked healthly from the outside.... what do you think i should do?

I am 24, my fiance and I have been trying for a baby for 3 years now. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and my left tube is blocked in the middle. The dye in my left tube stopped in the middle and the dye went all the way in my right tube. I had a std for 2 1/2 years which caused all of this from when I was 17 years old, and I had no symtoms until after damage was done. The doctor thinks that the right tube is damaged as well. I want to have a child so bad. They told me about IVF. Does that really work?

Hi All ... I've read all the posts and some ladies have asked about bleeding after HSG but I haven't seen an answer yet. I had mine done last Friday 5/20, went smoothly, no cramps or spotting. 3 days later I started bleeding lightly, not spotting, bleeding, not enough to soak a pantyliner but on and off like a light period. Has this happened to anybody and they still conceived? I am worried the bleeding will thin my uterine lining ... And can the bleeding not happen until a few days after the procedure? THANKS!

Hello TravelBug. I'm going to answer your questions as best I could. After my HSG, I had to wear a pad for that evening. After that, it was very light. From what my doctor said, you may and you may not get spotting immediately after the procedure. That if it comes maybe a day later that is possible as well. If I were you, I'd still check with my doctor if I had concerns.

I just came back from having my HSG done today 30/5/05. I'm glad it went well without any pains. The experience for me is something like the pap smear just that when the iodine solution is injected in, I couldn't feel a thing perhaps also because I was nervous. Am anxious to know abt the results later in June. A question for those who have experienced HSG procedures. After my procedure, there's no spotting for me. Is it possible that spotting comes a day or two after the procedure is done? Anyone here experienced that before? And actually how long do I have to wait after HSG is done in order to have an intercourse?

Nena - May 30

Hi Sue. First I don't understand why they didn't tell you the results immediately. You can see it as well while taking X-ray. My doc told me not to have intercource for a week. They inserted a band to keep it for 3-4 hours and than to take it out. Whe I took it out it was full of blood (sorry tmi) and than two days after I was spooting a very little. The day that I had to do HSG doc gave me injections and than he prescribed 6 dayrs injections and tablets against any inflamations. After 8 days of HSG (done 11th May) I started to have sex. e-mail [email protected]

Hi Nena. Thank you for your swift response. I saw it from the screen as they were doing the procedure on me, but it was blocked from my view at times. I asked them for results and they said its on my next appointment, my gynae will let me know. Other than that, they did not mention anything abt the band you were mentioning. After my HSG, I had to wait for another half hour for an X-ray at my pelvic. I just hope everything's fine. But waiting for June 20 my next apptment to come can be a pain as I am left 'hanging in the air' not knowing the outcome of the procedure whether there's any blockage to my fallopian tubes or whether my uterus is fine.

Maybe everywhere have different ways of doing that. My gyno who suggested me to do the HSG came with me in a klinik and he did it himself. He was assisted from another nurse and doctor. When they took the first X-ray, he mentioned that everything looks normal and than he said to take two more X-rays and finally everything went well. But, yes he did explain to me that everything is ok. I know that it is hard for you to wait, but just be patient. Do you have any cramps or something? Because, I had cramps for a week and I felt extremely tired I just wanted to lay down and watch tv. Even the doc recomended 7 days sick leave, so it was approved from my boss and I stayed home. Also he mentioned to me to avoid any cold water or cold environment, he said that I should keep my body warm. ~*~*~*~* Good Luck ~*~*~~*~*

I recently had a Selective Salpinography and a baloon tuboplacsty because my HSG test shouwed one tube blocked and the other had possible fluid build up. Anyways, when I left the hospital friday they told me the procedure was a success and now both of my tubes are open. Has anyone else had this done sucessfuly and did you get pregnant or did you have to resort to other treatments?

LiLi - June 1

I just had my 2nd HSG this afternoon.... My first one was over 3 years ago when I was having trouble conceiving with my first son - and I got pregnant that month! I'm hoping the HSG from today will have the same results.
I did not hear that you need to wait a week....so I'm not waiting (and I didn't with my first pregancy either). Good luck to everyone...I'll post my results after June 16th which is when my period is due.
