I meant to ask...Is anyone else freaked out about the risk of death from this med becuase it can cause Lactic acidosis (?)?? I am a bit worried

Yes, I am concerned about lactic acidosis as well- but I have read that staying away from alcohol will dramatically decrease your chances it happening. Anyone else on only 500mg of metrormin/day?

this is actually a question.
I am only 25, I will be turning 26 in may, I have been married for almost 5 years, got married the day befor my 21st birth day. Anyways I have been irregular sence I first hit puberty, and my husband and I, while not really trying, keeping up with my cycles because of irregularity, are wanting to get pregnant. I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and am takeing metformin. I have only been on it for about 2 weeks. All my hormon levels and pelvic exam came out fine, along with every thing else. Will Metformin help me get pregnant when it was perscribed for my type 2 diabetes?

they say they have more pregnancy rates on metformin than the other fertility drugs. metformin is for insulin resistance and it regulates your periods, but it also helps aid in pregnancies as well.

I am hoping I am pregnant as I feel really sick and the smell of food makes me heave.. it could be a tummy bug but I am due on Tues so we will see. I did a test yesterday which was negative but I read that it wouldnt show up until at least the day your period was due so there is hope yet! Im prob just winding myself up for a fall but fingers crossed x

Hi my name is Kristen, this is my first time on this site. After reading through some of the responses I've decided to join. It is comforting to know that there are other women out there who can understand and relate to me. I have PCOS and my only symptom are the cysts on my ovaries. I've been on metformin since Dec. 14. hopefully met. will help with my ovulation. I have been experiencing some of the s/e but they are at a min. We all are far apart yet very close in the sense that we all have the same desire having a healthy baby. I am here if anyone wants a friend. My email is [email protected].

Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and while reading through all of the answers and support I thought I'd join. I am 25 and was diagnosed with PCOS after 4 and a half years of ammenorhea that no one took the time to find out why. Once I was diagnosed I was put on HRT, B/C and Metformin in hopes to regulate and thin the lining of my uterus, I am now only taking the Met. in hopes that my husband and I will be able to get pg. My Doctor tells me that I should be Pg. within a few months, has anyone had those types of results before? Or have heard about anyone who has?

hi, I am 26 and I have been ttc for 18 months, I have a 2 year old and it took me 3 years of trying with her, this time they put me on metformin XR 1500 mg at dinner time, I have been on it for 5 months. I am now on my 2nd cycle of clomid days 5-9. Also the dr said if I do get PG keep taking it and it will help reduce chance of mis/c I have not been diagnosed with pcos but that is what the dr suspects.

I have PCOS as many of you do, I just started taking 850mg of metformin 1 time a day and by three weeks I have to take 3 a day, I am so sick from this medication. Will this go away? I feel so tired and sleepy. Plus I have a few beers 2-3 times per week, does this interact with the medication? I asked my doctor about Lactic Acidosis and alcohol and he said I had nothing to worry about, is there somrthing to worry about. Im taking it to get my insulin under control, I have had to many disappointments with pregnency. When will these side affects start to go away, i really want to take this drug, but I do not want to be sick all the time either.

lisa, i been on metformin for about 3 months now. the sickness will eventually go away about 1-2 months, but i still occasionally have diareah. i too hope to get pregnant from this. i wouldn't drink at all cause you could die from it and i wouldn't want to take that chance. good luck to you.

I went off the pill two months ago and got pregnant before my first period!! unfortunately I had a miscarriage so I am now waiting for my period to come so we can start TTC. When I was pregnant I also got a stomache bug and didn take metformin for four days. i had my miscarriage during this time. Anyone had anything similar?
