Hi Saintrose, My dr did a whole bunch of blood tests and found out that I have to much of the male in me.. He said that my thyroid was fine but, that my insulin level was very high. He also belives that I am not ovluating either.. I have been off the pill for over a year now and I have only gotten my "cycle" once or twice but, nothing like when I was on the pill.. He really belives that I am not ovluating.. I am suppose to see him next month and that is when he said we would try the Clomid... Does anyone else on the metformin get really sick and have to be in the bathroom all the time?? Thanks to everyone! ELK :)

i just started my metformin today taking 1 pill for 10 days, then 2 pills for 10 days then i will go up to 3 pills a day, at 500mg, but by the time i get up to where i need to be then i will be takinf 1500mg a day. does what s/e do i need to expect and has anyone gotten pregnant from it at all?

As for s/e I had diareah for the 1st couple of weeks and nausea, from my personal experience, if you cut out a lot of sugar it helps with the s/e.

Hello. I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago but never bothered taking anything as we were in no hurry to start a family. We think we are ready now and so the Dr has given me Metformin (2 months worth) and I have to take two tablets a day. Do I have to start them on the first day of my next period or can I just start whenever I want? I did a pregnancy test just in case but suprise suprise it was negative! I am also wondering whether I should mention Clomid to my Dr as a lot of people seem to have had ,more luck when on both - any advice welcome! C x

hi joanne iam using glucophage a form of metaforim its helps in regulating ur cycle which did that to me and since u regulated ur cycle you will be able to get pregnant for you will know ur fertile days .. but it usually used when u have trouble with ur insuline levels as I had ..

well to tell u my story i ttc for one half years then went to doc my tubes we blocked, did an operation and everyhting is clean and open now .. used glucophase to regulate my cycles which it did adn now my doc started me on clomid "first cycle" 3-7 dpo iam now 20 dpo still 13 days to go keeping my finger crossed ...

I just began taking metformin about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I am gradually getting to 1500 mg (3 pills) a day. I have been trying to get pregnant for almost a year now. I was diagnosed with PCOS almost 2 years ago. How long does it take for metformin to start to work?

I've been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 13. I was prescribed Metformin when I was younger and stopped taking it. A month ago, I went to visit an endocrinologist and was given 2000 mg of Metformin a day. I've been on the medication for about 3 weeks now and I still haven't had a PMS since February of this year. I took a pregnancy a week ago and it came out negative. My body is pretty good with the reaction of medicines. Is there a chance that I may be pregnant?

i was diagnosed with pcos two years ago the discovered it after a miscarriage, we have been trying for two years with no luck dr put me on metformin two days ago, dr seems to think that getting preg will not be an issue but i dontwant to build my hopes too much, im overweight and have tried everything... dr says weight is not much of an issue while preg does anyne have any advice for me????? help, and goodluck to all of you ..

can i ask you ladies a question please... i am 24 normal weight, i have irregular cycles and 4 early mc's. i have elevated LH levels that are higher then the FSH levels and also have elevated DHEAS. Now they are finally diagnoising me with pcos. Would metformin work for me? the doc says it since my insulin levels are okay, it won't do any good. I need some advice, b/c i can't trust the docs, they have misdiagonised me be4, and given me bad medical advice, so if you could help that would be great. thanks.

dr said that all going well and a normal period by next month i should be able to fall pg very quickly, he said that he has had patients that have fallen pg within a month of meds so i am praying that i amone of the lucky ones, are you on met? have you had a positve pg? sorry for all the questions but i am trying to find real peoples stories that i can relate to...

I have a question of my own actually if nobody minds. I was put on metformin and Yaz birth control to regulate my periods and my blood sugar and to get pregnant. I was wondering if anyone else got very sick from it? I stopped taking them because they made me sleep all the time, and I would get really moody, I was always nautious and had the runs all the time. I dont know if it was the combination of both the birth control and the metformin together or what. I had to stop taking them. Anyone having the same problems as me?

Hi my name is angelina I have a question I had test b/w done my dhea came out fine and test. level fine they gave my an insulin free b/w test it came out high. My dr say my insulin level is elevated and suggest pcos. I have appt on mon to go over results. Insulin level elevated does anyone know what that means? whats the difference from this and diabetic? She suggest that i need clomid

well I have been on met for 3 weeks I finally starting ovulating, I do not remember ovulating ever in my life. I was told this a mircale drug.... and it can take up to a couple of weeks to a year i was told if you take it correctly.
