Has anyone tried anything to increase the sperm count & the motility of the sperm? Is there such a thing? Any kind of herb or supplement that is available over the counter? Has anyone gotten pregnant when your husband or boyfriend had low motility & low sperm count?

My husband has both these problems. Research on the web it will give you vitamins and foods that can help.

Val, I'm assuming that if you know that your partner has a low sperm count/motility it's because your Dr. has done a semen analysis. If so, the next step is to have your husband/partner make an appointment with a Urologist. They should be able to further diagnoisis the problem and recommend the next course of action. In addition, there are many sites online that talk about what things not to do like omitting alcohol & caffeine and to wear loose fitting underwear e.g. no briefs. Do a goggle search on low sperm count. Don't give up. My husband has a low, very low sperm count 1.4 million /mL (Average is 20 million mL). We got his results back April 27 and he scheduled to visit the Urologist tomorrow (5/18). We have been TTC for 8 months. We've known for about a week now that I'm 5 weeks pregnant! So don't give up. Remember it only takes 1!

To Hope,
I appreciate your advice, and thank you for sharing your good news. It gives me a little bit of hope. The only problem is our insurance. Our insurance only covers to find the problem, not to solve it when it comes to fertility issues. Then everything else would come out of our pocket. Yes, he had a semen analysis and the doctor gave us the preliminary results, she was going to pass the results over to a fertility specialists so they can read the final results. Hopefully, we'll find out more today what kind of options we have.

Val, The next step for us was going to be IUI it's a lot cheaper (more affordable) than IVF and the success rates are good. Most fertility centers have payment options and plans. Have you looked into it? Are you in the US?

To hope,
Yes, I am in the US. Both my husband and I agreed on a couple things before we started trying and still feel the same way. That if getting pregnant doesn't happen naturally for us, then I guess it wasn't meant to be. Yes, we really want a baby, but at what price? We're not willing to go to a fertility clinic and spend thousands of dollars on treatments that MIGHT work. And we both agreed that we don't want to adopt for our own personal reasons. I've heard so many horror stories about couples that have spent sooo much money, even took out loans, just to try to get pregnant, and everything failed. First step, is to get the final results, then we'll ask more questions as to what kind of meds. he could take to increase his sperm/motility. He doesn't smoke, drink, take drugs, and he switched to boxers just recently.Just a question, if your finally pregnant, why is your husband still going to the Urologist? Congrats, I hope you have a healthy pregnancy!

We want a big family. Before we got married we would always joke about the number. We started off saying 4-5 and ended up on 3 or 4. He wants three, I want 4 (God willing :->) . We said we would have them right after another (stair-steppers), but we never imagined that it would be this difficult. Since we had already made the appointment before we found out (that I was pregnant) we decided to keep it. We said it's better to find out now if there is something wrong so that we can have a chance to correct it.
I can respect your decisions on fertility treatments. We had many of long talks about it. My husband hadn't committed to IVF and was struggling with IUI. I think he felt a little bit more comfortable with the fact that is was just helping the sperm reach the uterus. He also said he didn't want me going through all of the medications and removal of eggs (IVF) etc..
Please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to change your mind. I just want you to be aware there are many Fertility centers (at least in my area - North East US) that if your treatment is not covered by insurance and you do not get pregnant, they will refund you your money. So there is no financial risk. Just FYI :->

Okay that makes sense. Trust me,we never thought getting pregnant would be so difficult either. We want 2 kids, but if we get at least 1, we would be happy. His parents are not grandparents, and they won't be unless we have kids. His brother has settled down with an older woman who has 3 teenage children of her own. And my parents are grandparents almost a 7th time. My sister has 5, and my brother has 1, and 1 on the way. They always say that the 1st one is the hardest, and the others practically walk out. I wish you and your husband alot of luck. Congratulations to you both, and I hope more to come!

My husband has low count, motility and morphology. I'm normal for all results. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant after first attempt at IVF with ICSI. It is expensive, painful and stressful but it means we'll hopefully have a baby which we wouldn't have otherwise. Good luck to all - I know how horrible it is. I've heard you can get Proxeed in the US - it may help.
