i found out in 2001 i had a prolactinoma this came about when i noticed my periods had stopped i was putting on weight and i had breast milk. i had an mri scan and was told i had high prolactin levels. Prolactin means breast milk. i started taking cebergoline tablets [dopamine] and my periods were regular when i remembered to take my medication. i married and we were desperate for a child we gave up trying after 3 years as i was taking bromocriptine. The bromocriptine made me sick which didnt make me feel sexy as you can imagine. i had major panic attacks, anxiety, insomnia and was extreemly low to the lowest point you could hit. I told my new doctor that it was the final strw i didnt want to keep trying for a baby on the bromocriptine. I requested she put me back on the cabergoline and she did you wouldnt believe but a month later i was pregnant. for 36weeks i had joy, love, everything, we had made it. unfortunately me and my husband lost our baby at 36weeks i gave birth 25th november to Owen Brooke born sleeping 5pound 5ounz he was beautiful. We are trying again and hopefully this time it will all work out for the best. I want you all with prolactinomas to know that although this seems a sad story it was the best day of mine and my husbands life we made it that far and we will do it again. i pray for all of you and i thank god i found you all on this site coz ive been serching for you for the last 7 years xxxxxxxx
Aspire to climb as high as you can dream i hope ive helped someone out there stay posative

I had my IVF in June..which resulted in a BFN. I had a lot of complications after the egg retrieval...it wasn't a surprise withe a BFN. I'm about to start my 2nd IVF in Jan. I hope things go more smoothly this time.

Hi halle, I'm so sorry for your lost. I can't imagine what you & dh are going through. My heart goes out to you...& to your angel. You sound like a wonderful person who really appreciated what you had. I know it will happen again for you. It takes time to heal & to find the right path again. You are in my prayers.

Hi Polly, after my egg retrieval....I had internal bleeding. They has trouble getting to my left ovary b/c it sit behind my uterus. So obviously they nicked something & I had to go to the ER that night. I had an U/S & it showed blood in my belly. They still went ahead & did the transfer 3 days later b/c my hemoglobin levels was coming back up (no more bleeding). I was basically in pain for the 2ww. I wish now I waited to do the transfer when I was better...but I guess its irrelevent now. Anyway I hope things will be much better this time around.

Hi my name is Stephanie,
I am so glad I decided to visit this site. Just reading the comments from women with the same diagnosis makes me feel 100% better! I gave birth to my second daughter 61/2 years ago & ever since then, my body has not been the same. I finally faced the problem & was diagnosed with hyperprolactinemia & my MRI did determine that I had a benign tumor and I also have breast milk. In between the dr. & the endocronologist I was put on bromocriptine 2.5 mg and had no side effects. I only have a cycle (which I don't miss, but it's a part of life) if I'm on meds However I get so sick of popping pills, I always stop taking my meds. My husband & I have decided that maybe we will try for 1 more child. I would like to do the right thing to get my body regulated. I also read on women finally getting pregnant but miscarrying. That kinda scares me.Now in the forum I've read people talking about Dostinex, in which I will research & Progesterone Cream. Now on the sites that sell's the cream, I only see it in a small bottle or jar? Is there somewhere that sell's a bigger tube?

Hi Steph,
I have never heard of the cream. I am on Dostinex. It worked wonders. Only one pill a week. I would TTC until the level is down. Polly

hi apalonia strength comes from within and yeh it is kind of funny that you find it from somewhere to keep on smiling i hope evrything works out for you hunny you sound anxious. Just think posatively the mind is a wonderful thing. if you create a good vision or good outcome it usually happens and even if there is a litttle bad news theres always another side to the coin thats good. xx Halle

stephanie if you are not happy with the bromocriptine and the side effects are really bad or if you anything like me you have trouble remembering to take your tablets then ask your endocrinologist to put you on cabergoline as you dont have to take this as often as bromo. Try and keep a journal each day of how you feel in regard to any headaches, nausea etc goodluck with it and the trying for the baby and dont worry things will be fine. x Halle

Hi Apolonia, what is your dosage on Dostinex in order to just take it once a week? I seee that Hallebrooke mentioned taking it 3 times a week @ 0.5 mg.

Did anyone experience weight gain with this diagnosis? How about larger breast?

Hi Steph,
Large breasts would make sense I think. I had a weight gain as well. I could not account for it. Not a lot though. Once I took the dostinex I lost 8 pounds over two months. I was struggling to lose weight and I could not before that. I will check my level of Dostinex. I have it at home. Polly

Hi, I was diagnosed with high prolactin levels when we were ttc for our first baby. After taking dostinex for 2 months, I got pregnant! Now we are planning for a 2nd one...my daughter was bf until recently, so couldn't really get pregnant(at least in my case!). Now that she's done, I thought we would try again for another...but my dr said it would take 3 months to get the levels back to 'normal', so they won't test or put me on dostinex again until they test me 3 months later....has anyone else been on dostinex for their 2nd one? If so, how many months was it for you to get the levels down low enough to get pregnant.
And abt the breast size or weight gain, I haven't seen either in my case.
