I had high prolactin levels too and learnt about that only after a blood test. My dr prescribed Dostinex and I think after taking it for a couple of months, I became pregnant. We now a beautiful 3 month old daughter! Good luck everyone! :)

Hi,
I had 2 M/c's and found out that I had low pregesterone levels during that time. After the 2nd M/c my Obgyn did tests and found out that my prolactin is 78.9 which is very high. The neurologist said I may have a pitutory tumour. I have to see an endocrinologist in 2 weeks for treatment. My problem is I concieve very easily but I cannot carry the pregnancy to term each time..which I am sure is because of the high prolactin levels. Does anyone know ...if I start m treatment how long befor I can start trying.. this time should I use an ovulation kit? Will I able to carry the pregnancy to term this time atleast? Will I need to take bed rest like the last two times & still miscarry........I am scared, confused........someone please tell me something about this whole thing.
Thanks.

78 is high, but not incredibly so. I was 132 when I started and do not have a pit tumor. The doc will probably put you on either dostinex or parlodel. Mine is now down to 32. If you can get preg, which you have said you can, it may just be a matter of using progesterone supplements to keep the preg viable until your body takes over and produces enough. Talk to your RE about this.

Hey mmelo21,
Thanks for mailing. You are right about the progesterone..thats what my OBGYN is going to put me on in my next pregnancy but I hope the prolactin level comes down and I am able to carry to term. Will I need to take bedrest this time? American Dr's disagree on taking bedrest however a lot of other countries in the world believe in the same....

M2,First of all, I'm sorry to hear abut your two misarriages. That must be so difficult. I had a prolactin level of 79 and it's down to 2 after being on meds for months. I have a 2 1/2 yo son who I conceived naturally. I was diagnosed with high prolactin this time around after ttc for several months. I did get preg 2 months ago and had a very early m/c after only a few days of being pregnant. My dr never mentioned bed rest. My question is how far along were you when you had your m/c? Just curious, what country do you live in? I'm in the U.S.

Hello ladies,
I am 21 years old and currently trying to concieve I got of the Depo shot in June 5th and I am well aware that regulation of AF can take up to 18 months. However, the reasong why I'm in this forum is because I had a normal period in August 12-18 (6 days) and then in September 5th I had a very mild bleeding (Maybe implantation I'm not sure). No period after that until now October 30th. I've taken two pregnancy test and both have come back negative one HPT and one at a local clinic.
As I have read here high prolactin levels can cause a woman to lactate with out being pregnant. That seems to be the case with me. I have been lactating slightly for the past three weeks and I did have some minor pregnancy symptomes. I've had a rough time trying to get the local clinic to give me a blood test for prengnancy so I can't rule out being pregnant. Any comments on this? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,
I have been ttc for some time now... I wrote earlier in the year stating that I had a macro adenoma removed when I was 17.. since I don't ovulate my doctor is putting me on metformin and possibly clomid.. Has anyone had success with this medication?

I know high prolectin lower the chances of becoming pregnant ...once you fall preg chances of miscarriage are higher...

Hi there, I was also on here a while back. I'm now 8 weeks pregnant after 14 months of ttc #2. I was taking 2.5 mg bromocriptine (parelodel)sp? My RE never said that miscarriage was higher if you had issues with high prolactin. I'm not taking any meds with this pregnancy and everything seems to be going well so far. I even got to see a tiny heartbeat 2 weeks ago. If you have any questions, maybe I can answer them for you. I didn't even know about high prolactin until I couldn't get preg with #2.

Hi all,
I have miscarried twice & after several tests, Dr's have found out that my prolactin levels range between 40-60. I have a pitutary adenoma for which I am taking medication similar to Dostinex. My progesterone has been very low & I am not able to carry on the pregnancy beyong 6-8 weeks. However I concieve very easily. My genetic tests are also normal. I met a high risk OBGYN & he told me to keep taking medication given by the endocrinologist...The endocrinologist says that once the levels normalise I can start trying. I am so worried by all this going on. Girls will I be able to carry my baby to full term ever? I just turned 31.
Love
M2

Are there any signs that one has HIGH PROLACTIN without going to the dr? I had my son 4 years ago almost and I still have some sort of liquid that comes out of my BB's at certain times in my cycle, could this be a sign?

Kimberly, I was having regular cycles and couldn't understand why I wasn't getting pregnant with #2. After I had some blood work done and went on meds for my high prolactin, I finally got pregnant. My number went from a 79 to a 2 within a few months. I'm now 19 weeks pregnant. Do you know how high your prolactin is?
