hi i;m very happy i found this site where i can share my experience and ask questions to women with my same problem, i'm 25 yearsold and trying for a baby. Iwas diagnosed with proloctinoma 4 years ago, like most of you parlodel didn't work so i was prescribed with dostinex and my prolactin level are normal, I'm worry if i get pregnant while taking dostinex can harm the baby. have any of you got pregnant while taking dostinex? if so how was the pregnancy and was the baby healthy?

hi... even i am on dostinex ...this is my 2 mth....but doctor didnt say anything to me about sideeffects...she said that u haev to eat till u get pregnant...As soon as u get preg...stop it..even i am only getting 4 week supply every month.What about u? how much is ur level?mine is 26 ...hoping to get pregnant soon...MIhka

I hope I can be of some help or a bright spot for someone. In May of 2002 I was age 34 and had never had a child. My ex-husband (now) suffered from fertility issues, but I had never been tested. I went to a fertility doctor to make sure everything was okay. I had textbook cycles and ovulations. They did a lot of lab tests and I had a prolactin level come back at 72. I have never had any milk come from the breasts. The doctor sent me my results in the mail and it scared me to death—he told me I might have a “tumor in the brain” that is causing my high prolactin. Can you imagine how freaked I was! I returned back to his office. I told him that I had done some research on high prolactin levels and I read one of the causes of a high level could be after having a pelvic examination done. Well, I had a pelvic exam and a painful invasive test where they put dye in your tubes and uterus to see if they are open. This causes MAJOR cramping. I had all this done BEFORE my prolactin levels were drawn. I asked for another test that day. This result came back at 17, which I was told was normal. While I was there, I told the doc I had just ovulated. He didn’t believe me, so he did an ultrasound and YES I had just ovulated. Well, a month later I was pregnant! Sadly, that ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks gestation. My ex and I separated shortly after the miscarriage (he wanted to live abroad and I did not) and I met another man. We fell in love and…..Fast forward to exactly a year later…May 2003, I was pregnant again. I HAD A BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY SON in January of 2004. Get this—after weaning my son from breastfeeding, I still make milk! I do not know if I have galactorrhea, or if I have an elevated prolactin level, but I ovulate every single month and have textbook cycles. I want to give you all hope to let you know that a high prolactin level doesn’t mean the end of your dreams!! KEEP HOPE! I have a beautiful son who is a wonderful 2 year-old that I am absolutely in love with. Don’t give up hope!

i have a question i am 19 years old and i got married but before i got married i was on the patch and when i got off of it my period stopped and now my prolactin level is high its auctually 63.7 now they want to put me back on birth control to even it out will this do the job so that way i can have a baby after i get off of birth control? please someone help me

if you want to get pregnant your doctor should have been given you different medication other than birth control. i am on bromo for my prolaction my doctor told me as soon as i got pregnant i will stop taking bromocroptine you should ask your doctor again why he or she is giving you birth control for prolactin level. my level was 33 after usu=ing 1 month it was go down to 10 than amonths later it was 20 . 3 days ago they check again but i dont have results yet. jasmine

Hi girls....I've followed this forum for a month or so. About a month ago, I noticed a milky discharge coming from both nipples, so I called and made an appointment with my gyno. My appointment was this morning, and he told me that I had galactorrhea & I have to go for blood work in the morning to find out the cause. He said he should have my results in a week. Oh....dh & I have been ttc for 10 months now with no luck....so hopefully this will be the answer we've been looking for. I'm just really nervous & hoping it's not the tumor he warned me about....just thought I would log on....can't really sleep! BABY DUST!!!!!

Hey JASMINE....U know my level is 26 and i took DOstinex for 2 months and still not pregnant,when i asked my RE to have my blood work she said there is no need as it will come down naturally& u will get pregoo. But my level is only 26 how much time it will take me to get preg. Please be in touch so that i will get to know how much ur level is After ur blood test.I will take Dostinex this month,next cycle we will go for IUi

To keep hope ladies!! That exactly what happened to me, when the doctor told me my prolactin levels were high, which caused me to lactate...thus, asked me to have a CAT scan done, as something would be wrong with my brain.....I advised him I would be getting a second opinion...I got a second opinion....did a blood test.....and I was PREG!! My daughter is now 24 months old!! Baby dust to all! Minka I am sending sticky baby dust to you!!! You will become pregnant!!!

aish i didnt stop taking med i even skip one day but it raised hoppfully this month i will get good news let see
20 is normal too but ofcourse 10 is better.
stress also influnce level of prolactin dont be streess and dont thing about getting pregnant tomuch . two of my friend told me that as soon as they stop thinging about getting pregnant they got pregnant that month so please relax i am sure everyone will get pregnant verry soon.

please dont worry because tumor is not a bad tumor . if we dont want to get pregnant we would leave with that tumor end of our lifes but our prolactin level reflect our pregnancies so thats why we find out about high prolactin so dont worry i was like you 3 months ago but now everthing ok i am using bromo my prolacttin level ok so next step is baby hopfully it will happen to everyine in this site.

just checking in---- jasmine, did you find out your results yet? I hope they are lower for you- my office uses a scale of 16 and less for normal prolactin- I know other offices use different measures- but I hope yours is back to 10 or less. I haven't had mine checked now in about 4 weeks- it went from 5.9 to 6.3- I wonder if they will check it again soon. It's been 3 mos since I started taking it- and honestly, I was hoping to have become pregnant by now. It's so frustrating! The level came down right away- so I 'm just surprised it hasn't happened yet. Especially since they can't find anything else wrong, I thought for sure this would be it. they also have me starting progesterone suppositories starting 2 dpo- I am at 5 dpo right now. Does anybody have positive results out there? Brooke
