Recurrent Miscarriages - any thoughts??

I am blessed with 8 yr and 11 yr old girls. While ttc them, I had 5 miscarriages throughout the years. I am re-married and have been ttc for 1 year now. I had a mc last Nov at 6 weeks and another mc this Aug at 5 weeks. I seem to get pg easy enough but staying pg is an issue. Dr. wants to do a series of blood tests. Is this the first logical thing to do? Thanks in advance for all your help!!
