I had the hsg test done last week and it was painful but i would do it over again. Ihave benn on Clomid for 6 months and no luck so my husband got checked and everthing was normal, and both my tubes were blocked but they cleared them and my uterus is upside down but they said that didn't matter i could still carry a baby. So i can only pray that it works this time. I wonder if after have this test done and taking clomid i could have twins. We would love to have twins after trying for over a year it would be such a blessing. everyone will stay in my prayers

My uterus too, is backwards, but the doctor said it is no problem- and a friend of mine's the same way- she has two beautiful children! I had HGS done during a laparoscopy so I was under and don't remember it- but after I woke up the pain wasn't too bad. The worst was the incision pain from the laparoscopy that has gone away now, almost a week later. The anticipation was definatly the worst!

Hi I had a tubal ligation in 2002 and got pregnant in February 2005 had a natural miscarriage in March. Went in today for a hsg and showed both tubes totally blocked. The radiologist got a dumbfounded look on her face and couldnt explain why I had gotten pregnant months earlier. Anyone have any thoughts or answers? Wanting a baby now more than anything.

Well my doc called me this afternoon with the final results of my HSG and progesterone levels. He said I am as normal as can be. He said that so happily that I wanted to puke. Is that good news? So why am I not preg after 4 years of trying? What am I gonna tell DH when he has wanted a baby even longer than me??? I told him about this board and asked if my chances were increased after an HSG and you know what he said? "You actually bought that?" And I said "Well, yeah! This is the first hope I have had in a long time!" And he said well don't get your hopes up, and if I am not pg by August, then I need to go to a "specialitst" and probably start taking Clomid or other drugs. He said this so happily I wanted to vomit. How should I feel right now? I was sooo hoping that the HSG on 6/10 would raise my chances but his phone call just shot that to pieces. I need some positive reinforcement or maybe a reality check. Is he correct or not? Please help! Thanks! :-(

Brena, i had the same experience but mine is TTC for 2 and half years now but after undergoing HSG test and progesterone i.e blood test to check if am ovulating everything came out fine but the problem becomes my husband after he underwent his own test we found out that his sperm was low and he is undergoing some medications on drugs now. But i will urge u to ask your husband to go for test or medical checkups as well to ascertain where d problem is from before taking clomid becos i took clomid for two different months and nothing happend until we now conducted tests. I wish u baby dust this year!

Brenda..I have been TTC for over a year now. You really should have your husband get checked. Mine was a little hesitant at first, but does not say one word now. He feels bad for all the testing that I am going through and now gladly goes. Good Luck!!

Hello everybody. I had my HSG test 6/23 and should be ov this weekend.im really excited and kinda nervous being that i only have one good left tube. I feel kinda naive cause ive caugt my self tilting to the left more now that i found out that i only got one good tube. It's kinda funny and i laugh about it. i guess anything to relieve some of the stress that im going thru. If i dont end up preggo in about 3 month i was going to suggest my doc put me on Clomid or do IUI. What do you guys suggest i should try first?? im still new at this and would like to hear your opinion and your stories if you have already been thru this. Thanks, this board is the only thing that keeps me positive.

My hubbie had his sperm count done 2 months ago and it was perfect. Doc is saying we are having "unexplained" infertility since everything is just as it should be. But he said don't count on that HSG helping me to get pg. I am just very disappointed right now and don't know what to think. If everything is perfect, then what is wrong?

Brenda - First, after 4 years of trying and things being normal with you, if your husband has not been tested, he needs to get tested right away. He should have been tested before they started subjecting you to invasive tests like the HSG. I would strongly recommend that before you go through any other tests, or start taking any kind of drugs that your husband get tested. (If you have a hard time getting your husband to the doctor, I actually saw an over the counter test at CVS, but I don't know if it is any good). We tried for 1 1/2 years before going to the doctor. The first thing my doctor did was test my husband and we immediately found that we had male issues. Our chances of conceiving were basically non-existent without IUI. Hopefully that will not be the case with you, but you need to know for sure.
Second, if your doctor thinks your chances are not improved in the three months following an HSG, you need to get a new doctor because he obviously is not up on fertility matters. You have a 3 month window of improved chances after an HSG. I have two friends who both had trouble getting pregnant, and who both got pregnant the month after their HSG. I now call the HSG my miracle test. We started off with 8 natural cycle IUIs. When that didn't work, I had an HSG which I did not actually think was that bad and I am a HUGE chicken. It was completely normal. The month after the HSG I got pregnant. Unfortunately I had a m/c. Then 4 more IUI's, then 2 cycles of Clomid with IUI and nothing. Then I was switched to Femara and the doctor suggested another HSG, not for diagnostic, but to try to recreate the conditions of the last time I got pregnant. He calls it the "Roto Rooter" effect. It is now the second month after the HSG and I have taken 4 HPTs in the last 3 days and every one of them is + (the first three +s were light, but today's is really strong so I'm starting to believe it. It has now been 3 1/2 years since we started trying and I'm terrified that I might have another M/C, but I'm absolutely thrilled that the HSG worked again. You can't tell me that the HSG doesn't increase your chances, and I sure wouldn't put my faith in any doctor that doesn't acknowledge that possibility. Hope this helps you, and also gives hope to others out there.

Brenda -- sorry - I must have started typing before your post came up. If your husband is normal, you should certainly be hopeful about the HSG. Good luck!!

I had an HSG procedure in march and became conceived 3 days later. I am now 18 weeks pregnant. I have PCOS and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for nearly two years. I have been on chlomid and metformin but really believe it was the hsg procedure that did the trick.

Thank You KTL & Sarah! I do have some hope again. That is all we need is a little light at the end of the tunnel for a while, maybe docs don't understand that part. I have to say that I have been crampy for the past few days and NO aspirin will take it away like normal months. I also am not due for a visit from AF for about 4 days. I usually bleed first THEN cramp up after AF. Maybe it's my mind playing tricks on me. Sometimes I have bad gas and can't tell the difference, quite honestly! I don't have sore boobs, not tired, not nauseous, hungry or any other symptoms. But this is kinda weird -- my doggie will NOT let me out of her sight the past few days. She is just acting kinda weird in that she is just wanting me to pet her constantly and she is defending me from my other 2 dogs (really for noreason.) Any advice or experience with this?? Thanks!!! :-)

I have endometriosis but the doctor didn't do anything to remove it because it seems to be inactive. Doctor said that after three months of not concieving after my HSG he wants to put me on a high dosage of birth control to stop my cycles, and that when I come off the pill I should be very fertile. Has any one else heard of this, had this suggested to them, etc? I would really appreciate the info- I don't really want to wait anther 6 months definatly- TTC almost 3 years now.

Brenda, I don't want to get your hopes up because last month I thought I had all sorts of pregnancy symptoms and nothing. This month I didn't notice any symptoms and I got a +HPT. But, I will tell you that in the 2-3 days before I got my +, my dog was absolutely glued to my side, much more than normal. I really think she did sense something was going on.
