Lesbian Couple IUI

Hello everybody,

We are a lesbian couple and we are about to start the process of trying to have a baby. Our appointment is for December and we are going to talk with the doctor at the fertility clinic about IUI using donor sperm. We have never done this before so we are trying to get as much information as possible before we go to the appointment. I have done some research myself and I understand that it's uncommon to become pregnant on the first attempt which is sad news seeing as this is such an expensive process.

I am 27 years old and have no family history of fertility problems. We just purchased prenatal vitamins for me to start taking tonight. I have read that I should stop drinking caffeinated beverages and try to eat healthy (fruits, vegetables) and exercise. Do any of you have any other suggestions to help increase the chance of pregnancy?

I am really nervous and I am just hoping I am not going to have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get pregnant!

I guess I am just asking for your advice, stories, encouragement, etc?

I also have heard that there will be some tracking that we will have to do as far as temperatures, etc, which I have no knowledge of so that makes me nervous as well.

We are completely newbies!!!

Anyway, if you are willing to help, please do!!!

Thanks!

there are only 10-20 percent chances of getting pregnant with just 1 IUI cycle. the higher the cycle you undergo, the higher the chances. so if you really want to get pregnant and if willing to spend, you need to be prepared financially, physically, mentally and emotionally. good luck

IUI requires ovulation so it's a big help if you take medication that helps produce extra eggs. this procedure is really effective with the right timing.
