I have recently started my first round of Clomid 50 mg and I am wondering does this usually work in the first round. I have had problems getting pregnant for a few years now and just recently found out I do not ovulate and was put on Clomid. Having a baby is something I want so badly, but my doc said not to get upset if it doesn't happen in the first round. My bf gets called out of town a lot for work and it is hard to plan if he will be home when I ovulate or not. I had my first ultrasound and there are eggs so that is a good sign right?

Ash - are you doing the HCG shot as well? I finished my first round of Clomid (50 mg on cd 3-7) this cycle as well and have read a few success stories of pregnancy on the first go. I have read lots of stories of women who had more success on the second round though - I think it depends on timing. It is good that you have eggs - did they tell you the size? You will find that most doctors will have you do the trigger shot (HCG) once the follicles (egg) is mature at 18-20 mm. Some doctors say 15 mm - 22 mm, but I've found through research and my doctor that 18-20 is when they will tell you to start intercourse once the egg is mature even if you are not doing the HCG shot. We have been trying for 4 years and have fallen pregnant 3 times - all ending in m/c. I know we had a great month of baby making and my numbers were great - follicles, estrogen and progesterone numbers were all really good - the one thing we dont' know is how my egg quality is. So even if we timed it perfectly and followed all the steps of clomid, trigger shot, and bding - it doesn't matter if my egg quality isn't good. That's what makes this whole process frustrating! Good luck and let me know how it goes. When will you test?
