I havent been on bc for a looong time, and i found out that i have pco. i got results back from my husbands analysis, and needless to say- he's perfect. I however, obviously know that its all me. IT's weighing on my head. I have to take a couple more tests, and a nurse consult- then I start clomid next period. My only worry is the shot that my husband chris has to administer at home. we have a 4 year old boy, and shoul;dve had #2 last year to be well on our way to #3, but we are a little behind. Im really worried that the clomid wont work, and the shots, and God, even the price to have the baby. 9 all my kids have to be c section due to a small uterus, the baby cant drop or turn so). Obviouly in the four years since we had our little boy something changed in my body. the pco is scary enough. and I find comfort in knowing Im not alone. Good luck to all of you- wish me luck!! im scared and nervous...

This is an old thread and there are probably alot of answers and pregnancies since, but I thought I'd share my experience.
I was also diagnosed with PCOS at about 23 after having irregular periods since it began. That was my only symptom.
At about 29 me and my husband decided to try and conceive, obvioulsy needing help to do this. My obgyn sent us to a fertility clinic so I can be closely monitored.
I started on 1/2 a tablet of 50mg from day 5 for 5 days, I then had to get a scan to see if any follicles were ready to be released (forget which day this was) there were 2 but not quite the right size, so i had to go back about 3 days later to check if it was the appropriate size, there was one. I then had to do ovulation tests for the next 4 days to test if I was ovulating which I was.
The only problem I had was I was extrememly sick with clomid, it was like having major pms symptoms, hot flashes, nausea, extreme ovulation pain etc. I felt so awful, we didn't even have sex like we were suppose to, so ofcourse I didn't fall pregnant.
The process was so long and the symptoms scared me so much, i decided to wait till next year to start again. I was suppose to do it for 4 months and if I was wasn't pregnant by then after ovulating, i was suppose to get a lap to test my tubes.
Anyway, I took the Clomid in August, didn't get pg and stopped. Next month I ovulated naturally which never happens!! And I only knew to test myself because I had a funny discharge, but no other symptoms like I did with the clomid. We tried to conceive this time, but it didn't happen.
THEN... Next month I ovulated again, and I got pregnant!!!! It was an amazing miracle because it was by sheer luck and fluke I ovulated naturally and knew it. The doc says it was probably a residual effect of the clomid but was quite rare.
So now I'm 4 months pregnant and everything is going well.
Even though we we're going to wait, fate stepped it and made it happen anyway (thats how I see it anyway because I feel so blessed) the best part is knowing that I can get pregnant, even having pcos, with just a little help. So I will try again straight away after my bubs is born and will probably have to go clomid again to start the process anyway.
There is hope with Clomid and pcos, i'm proof, the side effects can be bad because we obvioulsy are alot more sensitive to hormone changes and surges, but it is so worth it when you have a life growing inside you.
Good Luck

Hey Jessica. Good to read your post. :) I am in a similar situation. I am 21, and I was put on birth control at 15 to help regulate my periods and also to help with acne. I stayed on it until I became sexually active (ironic) when I got married. :) That was last August. I didn't have a period at all until December when my obgyn finally prescribed me provera to jumpstart my cycle. I have PCOS and insulin resistance. I take 1000mg of Metformin every day, as well as prental vitamins. I took provera to jumpstart my cycle in December and January. I am on day 9 (took 50 mg clomid days 3-7). The night hotflashes are INSANE. Two nights ago i felt like I hadn't slept a wink!!!! :)
Anyway, that's my story. I can't give you a success story (since I'm in about your same exact boat). I can tell you that everyone that I've talked to says I should buy and OPK to help predict ovulation this month, but I think I'm just going to baby dance at least every other day to make sure i hit it. (I have little patience for things like OPK's and I have a feeling it'd make me more anxious!) I'm just trying to relax and not get too worked up about it--->it makes those big fat negatives so much harder. :(
Good luck and keep me posted! Another piece of advice, go to fertilityties.com and set up an account. The women on there are SO great and there's a chat room and stuff. It's so easy to feel welcome and understood there. If you go on over, look me up (*dani*) and let me know you joined us! :)

Hi, Im new to all this. i read lots of post before, but i've never wrote anything myself. Im 30 years old, been with my husband for over 6 years. We just got married in Aug. We've been TTC for a total of 3 years or so. I was told i have PCOS about the same time we started dating. I went of BC pills the year we were planning our wedding, other then that year we havent used anything.
I just finished my 4th cycle of Clomid. The Dr put me a Metformen about a year ago. I didnt find many side effects from there. I also lost 43 pounds. Right after the wedding we went on Clomid. The 1st cycle i didnt get many side effects, mostly just dizzy if i got up to fast. Month 2 i found i was very moody, night sweats and so tired all the time, these side effects have been the same for every month since. I dont get U/S, but i get the 21 day blood test. My levels allhave been great. Month 1 they were 38.5,month 2 they were 81.9,month 3 they were 53.9 and this past month they were the lowest at 31.8. My dr called to tell me my levels and i asked him if it was something to be worried about cuz this month was lower, he told me as long as its over a 15 im good. BUT AF came yesterday, so tomorrow i well start clomid cycle #5. Oh in case anyone is wondering i take 100mg/clomid plus 1500mg Metformen. He started me out on 100mg for month 1.
Well i wish everyone luck. I cant wait to see that + sign on the hpt.

Hi, I'm new to this site. I'm 24 yrs old. and the DH is 29. We've been married for almost 4 yrs.and have been ttc for 3yrs. now. I was just diagnosed with P.C.O.S. this past March. My doctor took some blood tests and determined that my hormones were normal even though I had cysts on my ovaries on my U/S. She put me on 50mg.of Clomid last month and my progesterone indicated that I ovulated but it wasn't a strong enough level. Needless to say, when I went in for my 28 day U/S and pg.test it came back neg. and my AF~aunt flo decided to rear her ugly face. I was crushed. No first time clomid success story! Anyways, this month my obgyn. has me on 100 mg. and I'm now on CD.18 of my cycle waiting for Wed. when I can go get my prog. blood work, hoping and praying this is my cycle and that we are Pregnant!!

Hi ladies - I'm actually on this site again after a long break due to having my daughter thanks to clomid. i'm looking for some support for trying on round 2, but saw a lot of women here in the same boat and thought i'd share a positive story. i have pcos as well. i am thin and from what i understand and experienced, being thin with pcos is tough b/c the insulin resistnace is not there so there's no hope of treating that portion and then getting prego. anyway, i went on clomid and kept getting put on higher and higher doses till it was pretty high. i can't recall anymore, but i think it was much higher than most need. anyway, i finally ovulated on clomid. and the first time i ovulated, i was pregnant with twins. i love one VERY early on which is normal, but now have a healthy and beautiful daughter. clomid is a savior and just stay hopeful b/c it might take a while till you find the right dose of clomid that works for you. i'm going to try coming off the pill in 2 months and have been working on a low GI diet just in case i can help things along. i got an excellent book though. it's the PCOS diet book and i love it. i highly recommend it. anyway, good luck to everyone ttc !!!!!!!!
